Using TS on Win11 Causes System Clock to Speedup!

Hello all, I am using a legacy system (CoreII Extreme) but it still has a lot of uses for me. In Windows7 and earlier ThrottleStop performs perfectly. However on Windows 11, when it's used to increase the Multiplier, the system clock (actual system time) is actually observed to start ticking significantly faster. It goes back to normal on a Reset button push, but then of course I lose the OC. Was wondering if anyone ever saw anything like this :)

Thx so much in advance.

Some older systems with Core 2 Extreme processors do funny things when using ThrottleStop to unlock and increase the CPU multiplier. Some of the internal system clocks get calibrated on first boot based on the default speed the CPU is running at. Back then, software did not exist to overclock the CPU by increasing the multiplier so system builders never seemed to notice this potential bug.

Fifteen years later, there is nothing I can do about this. No chance of Microsoft releasing a patch so you can overclock your Core 2 Extreme while in Windows 11.

You can try doing a sleep resume cycle to recalibrate the clocks but I doubt that trick will solve the problem.

Here is a guide that talks about some commands that can be used to change what timers Windows uses.

Does HPET in BIOS/UEFI have any relation/bearing on this?
Maybe. I have not done any testing of this. Worth playing around with the Windows timer settings and BIOS settings if any are available.
