I just bought this game last night on steam, and I am trying to play online but when I go to play multiplayer and I find a server I click join, but every time I do this, I get a connection failed. I can find a server and everything but I cannot get connect to it. On the internet settings I have changed it to all of the choices and still nothing. I think it is not the firewall, because when I first started up the game last night it asked if I should allow or not and I allowed the game to be run. I don't think it might be Hamachi because it was doing it when I had it on and off.

So whats my problem? Last night when I was configuring my settings it said something about ports, could that be it?

My internet is Charter Cable.

I even went into my firewall and added a TCP and UDP port #7777, and still no luck.

And if this helps, when I got the game I didn't have to inter my key that steam gave me. When i started up the game, it already had my profile on there from when I had a past install of this game(when I borrowed it from a friend), and when I created another profile, it didn't ask it then either.

I was having this exact same issue before. I had it with nearly all games though. What it wound up being is that my ISP had a firewall for all users and it wasn't letting it pass. I called them up, got a static IP and it was all good after that.

Ok, that is what I will try. I wonder if my ISP is open today.

No luck. I think I am just going to call them. I even checked if port #7777 was open through the internet and it isnt, so I am just going to call.

is this the first time you are having this problem? I mean you played other games online and things were ok, but this particular one doesnt play nice, correct?

Exactly, I got COD5 on Christmas and it hasn't had this problem, or any other game that i have, or played online.

But there was a problem with the internet yesterday and the ISP had to reset the system on there end. That could be the problem, I have play any games since 2 days ago.

yea, in that case i think this is not about static addresses or forwarding the ports. This could be your ISP. Another thing you can do is try is go to a UT forum if there is one and ask about this. Some games have instructions on how to connect, in my experience its generally the same but you never know.

Beat you to it. I'm getting more responses on this forum than the UT one.

No, it wasn't the static IP that fixed it. They set it up that way so I could connect to their non firewalled server. Just call them and find out if they have a firewall that's not allowing that port.

ok then.

I hade similar problem with games and fault was my antivirus program, when i unistalled it all went fine.(with kaspersky antivirus)

Thanks for the help, I got it working now. I just had to re-enter the cd-key.

omg, that was it?

Yeah.

Ok, I have my game working now!!! The problem was that, when I used to pirate, I had a cracked copy of the game, and I uninstalled it, so when I got this game it still had my old profile and cd-key still in my hdd, so I deleted all that, and entered my new cd-key and it works.
