The most recent Steam Hardware Survey shows more Steam gamers play on NVIDIA GeForce hardware than any other graphics platform. In an effort to further support this popular PC gaming configuration - Steam games plus NVIDIA hardware - Valve and NVIDIA have entered into an agreement to collaborate on development, distribution, events, and more. Effective immediately, all NVIDIA gamers may receive a free copy of Portal: First Slice, a special version of the award-winning new game from Valve, by visiting http://www.steamgames.com/nvidia1 and "Taking the test." Steam will then auto-detect the presence of NVIDIA hardware and make Portal: First Slice available immediately, free of charge. To make it easy for all NVIDIA customers to redeem this offer, a link to the Steam offer will also be included in all NVIDIA drivers.

what exactly is the difference between Portal and Portal: First slice?

From what i am reading at the official steam forums, its seems to be the first 4-5 levels of portal...no new maps.

wow, sounds like its absolutly worth my time... not.
Already played Portal.

Yeah.. I thought this was going to be an expansion or something.

By Special they mean retarded.

The first 5 - 6 levels of Portal are really quick.
Heck, it doesnt get hard until much later in the game.

First slice lol I got black box free :pimp:

Didn't ATI users got Death match for free? i think thats a better offer.

Anyone notice TWIMTBP logo when starting steam? When I saw that I wondered if my frame rates would start to decrease when playing TF2

What awesomeness, now I have deathmatch!!! cool

So wait is Valve now with Nvidia? That is so uber lame, im sorry but ATi and Valve have always been close.

not close enough :D

Next were going to see Half-Life 3 with that gay little "the way its meant to be played" slogan.

Oh so it's a free demo of the game for pwning an NVidia card. That's cool, but I got Episode 2, Portal, And Team Fortres 2 (black box) for free for pwning a 2900.

yeah Portal MP anybody??? :) :)

These news make me sad. :(

I'm sorry, what?

feels like a knife in the ribs. especially after making the painful decision to get an X1950pro rather than a 7600gs.

I don't think anyone should worry about the partnership between Valve and ATI; this is what you find if you do a "view source" on the page at http://www.steampowered.com/nvidia/ (highlighted in red for your convenience):
