Valve Details Controller Usage on Steam, Xbox Controllers on Top

I have used wired 360 and DS4 which I also connect with cable. Mostly DS4 lately as it works out of the box, even uses light as some rpm indicator in some games (F1 2017 I think). 360 is great for me for couch gaming, across the room.

Yea. Just like others said. All third parity and wrappers emulate xbox controller.

I use the the PS4 with the official Sony dongle. Works like a charm out of the box. Plug and play.

Does the Sony dongle has any software with it for configuring the controller or is it just a BT dongle?
I'm using a BT dongle and I was wondering if I will need the Sony dongle at all.

The Sony dongle is plug and play. It has much better range than any BT device I used before with input mapper or similar software. It is not really a BT dongle in generic terms. It is a tailored device, also the MIC and headphones work and gets its entry in device manager and you can use it.

I use a Xbox wireless adapter for the XOne controller, so I moved away from the 360 (even though I like the feel of those more).

I just don't see how the Steam controller is popular. My biggest gripe is that the right side doesn't have a joystick.. but only a trackpad. This makes panning the camera and movements like that a pain. You have to keep dragging to spin. With a joystick, you can just hold it in place.

Got a xbox 360 controller hooked up to my PC. Rarely ever use it, but have it in case a friend comes over to play games on my PC.

yeah, came to add that i wonder how many PS4 controllers show up as 360 controllers? mine would seemingly at random show up as some Xbox one...
