I setup my own 8 man free vent, I wasnt sure what port it would use. I entered in my own IP and the right PW and it connected and gave me a port. But that info only seems to work for me, how can I find the info to give to others so they can connect to my vent?

You opened the ports on your router so they so they can connect ?.

Like with Teamspeak you would open up 8767 ports though the router under Port Range Forwarding with my router for the local IP for the system thats running TS..

is this on windows or linux or what? doesnt the install program tell you what ports to open? i know it does using linux/bsd.

Its on windows, the "VentSrv" program doesnt list an IP's that I can see though. I opened the port that vent said it was using.

that is windows for yea...

you have to make sure that the vent server software is pointing to your internal IP and knows what your external ip is. then you open up the ports on your router. that is atleast how i did it when setting it up in linux.

the vent server is just a cmd type box, no GUI, dont see how to point it to any IP at all.

is there a config file that you can edit before you run the server? maybe in there you will find what IP it is using. wish i could help more but i havnt installed it on windows ever.

There is a config file, but it doesnt like any ip settings, just vent name, password, some sound settings, cant change port or ip in there.

Ventrilo uses port 3784. You should be able to find your IP by going to http://www.whatismyip.com, the site will report your ip back to you. If you want, you can set up a DNS at dyndns.com so your friends don't have to remember a bunch of numbers and you can give them something easier to remember like "kurgan.servegame.org"
