Micron Technology has presented VLP (very low profile) memory modules with capacity of 512MB and 1GB.
The model MT18HTF6472Y-40EB3 which is realized according to diagram 64 Mbit x 72 has a total capacity of 512MB.
MT18HTF12872Y-40EB4 is realized as 128 Mbit x 72 and 1GB total capacity.They represent accordingly DDR and DDR2 VLP memory.
Each module has a height of only 18.3mm.This is 62% lower then the traditional design.Micron tech. also indicates that this new design provides better memory and system cooling.
The price is still unknown.
