Video Problems, Pt. 3

My 4850s came in today and they are posting...However, after I get past the the Microsoft loading bar (after post) I get a black screen...Nothing...No log in screen...Nothing...

At this point I decided to give my x800 a try. It does the exact same thing...

At that point I decided I'm going to reinstall Vista by booting via my vista cd (thinking that this must be do to drivers). However, I can't get past the "Please Wait..." screen after I click install. I just stays on please wait for 30 mins...So I decided to stop.

Is it possible to format my HDD via dos, instead of booting with the vista CD?

PLEASE HELP!

*EDIT* My x800 was working before...No I'm getting no life on this setup...Just the black screen...

*EDIT2* I haven't been able to boot via safe mode.

Any card with a single slot cooler runs fairly hot.

If you have an XP CD lying around, you can run that and format from the install menu.

Didn't think of that, but I got it formatted with my XP CD...Now I'm going to try to reinstall Vista...

What's the easiest way to confirm that your cards are in crossfire mode?

Catalyst Control Center, crossfire in theory will not work properly if you do not have the drivers installed. GPU-Z should be able to tell you as well, but I don't know exactly how well it reads info on the new 4850s, although I think W1zzard did update it to support them.

I've had Vista funking out like that as well, and a reformat did the trick too. It sounds like your computer isn't cursed anymore, but it still leaves the question of why it didn't work in the first place. Oh well, at least it's working now :laugh:

Lol I might run 3dmark06 if I ever finish with tf2 :laugh:
