Virus/Windows error

Also looked up removing the hdd from her hp envy, its not horrible but it could be a pain in the ass lol

I just started the sfc scan now while I finish making this boot drive, ill post if it resolves anything, thanks for the idea

before I dive hours into this. Is it REALLY important to you that you save this OS?

It said it found errors, but windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation. I ran it from recovery console so ill try in safe mode in a sec

It really isn't, but tbh I enjoy the challenge of it lol. Just replaceing/reinstalling everything onto this would be an incredible pain in the ass, but its what ill do if I have to

ughghghghg.

Well first off. can you manage to get into safemode with networking?

If a virus was bad enough to damage the OS to this point (and im not saying that is whats happened) but if it is, it has not been disinfected enough to correct it.

I'm super bored. if you would like and feel ok with it. I can remote into your machine in safemode with networking. I can walk you though everything I do and why.

might provide some incite and entertainment for both of us.

I do this kind of thing and train others how to do this kind of thing for a living. I won't go through any of your friends stuff. Our little secret.

Think of it as a professional consultation.

I would say yes to that, but even booting into safemode w/ networking or normal, internet functions don't work at all. Ethernet or wired. I guess to add, windows freezes up on me when I attempt to open networking from control panel

currently running an chkdsk scanandfix, seeing if I can get any of that....it looks like its going to take a while

thats a file system check with attempted correction of bad sectors.

Now if your hard drive is failing and thats whats causing the issue. your probably doing more hard running the HDD that hard. wouldnt want to lose allthose photos.

now what you should do in safemode with networking so you can DL some real tools is start by running this command (in an admin cmd prompt) to reset your TCPIP stack which was surly probably fucked up by viruses.

Code:
netsh i i r r

Ill give that a shot, if I can get the internet back up on the pc that would be a great first start. But I don't think that will fix me being able to access anything regarding the internet, I cant even get into the wireless network areas.

then you should OSR because you arent equipped to deal with this level of damage without tools.

Isn't doing any sort of back up very risky in a situation like this? Unless you have some knowledge as to the location of the supposed infection or rootkits, Making a back up would likely contain whatever viruses are plaguing the computer right now. Personally I would just cut my losses, and be certain to impress upon this user the importance of proper security so this situation can be avoided in the future.I understand that it's an inconvenience to lose photographs, important files, memorabilia, but it's better than losing your identity and bank information( worst case scenario )
Doing a backup isn't dangerous, as nothing is executed or loaded for operation during the backup, and offline scanning a hard drive is safe as well, as the onlything accessing the drive is the antivirus software.

I agree I'm in over my head, but I'm gonna keep trying till ive exhausted all my options

Well I seem to have made one step in the right direction," windows ran into a problem and needs to restart. you should close this message now and save your work" is now longer showing up so I'm able to boot the computer regularly. I also was unable to install an older....much older version of Malwarebytes and manually update it. so ive made a little bit a progress after work.

Well I'd like to thank everyone that contributed to this thread. As far as I could tell I had all viruses removed, even tried restoring a registry from the backup, and still jacked beyond repair....so I backed up and reinstalled, and everything is working great. Saddened I couldn't figure a way to fix it short of doing the reinstall though. Also thank you solaris for offering to remote connect and take a look, if it was working that woulda been a great learning experience to observe I'm sure
