aye, as has been commented on before the AGP bandwidth is equal to PCIe8 and it would be interesting to know how many cards actually utilise the full PCIe16 bandwidth

Damn, I knew AGP still had life left in it. Im sure in a couple years, PCIe will be taken full advantage of, but right now AGP is still good. Had I know this was coming out AGP (as I was under the impression AGP was dead and no more AGP cards would be made) I would have stuck with my current mobo. Oh well, this is a dynamite card and Im sure priced reasonably well. In fact Best Buy has the PCIe version for 299.99 so Im assuming the AGP would be like 249.99. Not bad.

Actually, BB had the pci-e x1950pro for $199 (on sale) and the agp card for $299 for the last 2 weeks.

Currently the sale is over and they are both $299

Hmmm... It sounds like a nice card, but of the remaining AGP systems, how many are going to be bottlenecked by the CPU using a GPU like that? My system (Athlon64 3700+, socket 754 NForce3 250 MB, SATA 250 GB HD, 2GB PC3200 RAM) is pretty well matched with the Nvidia 7800 GS AGP I purchased last spring. I primarily play Oblivion and if I were crazy enough to sink even more money into an old system I doubt I would net more than a few FPS out of the game with the X1950 Pro AGP (since my CPU is bound to be holding it back). Just seems to make more sense to be working towards a new DX10 geared machine. I guess if you have an old 9800XT card and had never upgraded, maybe it would be O.K.. But if that's the case you should have when the 7800/7600 and 1650 Pros came out months ago. By now it seems kind of a wasted effort.

yeah $300 is kinda steep, in canada the Ati PCI E version goes for $330, Yet the sapphire card is like $235 also PCI E, I've yet to see any of the AGP's version in store or online in canada

I think the difference between AGP and PCIe with this card is close to 0.
Specs are the same and some AGP versions even have a higher clock rate.

Wow, that's ridiculous, the pcie cards have an msrp of $199, best buy is really ripping people off. I bought my sapphire x1950 pro for $199, and the asus one is like $185.

They have both the 256mb and 512mb versions of the AGP x1950 pro at zipzoomfly.com for something like 239.00 and 249.00 respectively but are currently backordered. I'm getting my 512mb version hopefully tomorrow.
