Great , from all the 4890's I had to buy one that doesn't have the reference design hence NO Voltera 1165 chip. Does anybody know what chip this crappy XFX card uses? and if it's possible to raise the core voltage?

Thanks!

That or a card that keeps the reference design hence has the Volterra 1165 chip

I know the diamond has ref. pcb and asus gives you their software that allows to raise the core voltage.

Benchmark Scores It does boot up? I think.
Most likely your card is bulit on a non-softmod compliant non-reference PCB.
Do you have a pic of your card? Or can you find a review of a physically identical card?

Ok I tried doing the mod as per this url--> http://vr-zone.com/articles/increas...-hd-4890-using-rivatuner/6880-1.html?doc=6880

and I got this error (see pic: Riva Error) when i tried going into "hardware monitoring"

And when I opened the Bios in RBE (see pic: RBE) the voltage registers are grayed out.

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH !!!

XFX SUCKS THE BIG ROCKS :banghead: :banghead:   :banghead: :banghead:

Would you mind showing us which card you picked up  Then someone can maybe help you, or tell you for sure if you are screwed.

It looks like they changed the card part way through the run to one without the volterra. So does look like your screwed, can't you return it if you just bought it. If not thats why I always try and use Newegg :(

i have a xfx standard edtion clocked at 1000/1000 and i was able to raise the clocka nd voltage. the diffrence is that xfx released new cards with a diffrent design on the cooler and with that changed the VRM chips on the PCB. i suggest you go find a seller that has the V1 reference cooler, or check with your supplier before you buy, or maybe so your homework before you go xfx SUCKS.......
