VRR Flicker when using Frame Generation

I recently changed my monitor and GPU. I've got an OLED Aorus FO32U2 240Hz and 5080. I know that OLED monitors in general are prone to VRR flicker with rapid changes in framerate or if there are frametime spikes but in my case problem happens only when using DLSS frame gen. I turned on monitor OSD to see the refresh rate and if I have frame gen enabled in games (tested CP2077, Alan Wake 2, Avowed) the refresh rate is erratic. At one moment it stays the same as my FPS only to jump +30hz or +40, 50 etc causing flicker. If I turn it off it stays synced with my framerate.

I tried to turn off vsync in driver settings, changed it to Fast but that didn't help. Anybody noticed the same on their side? I wonder if that is just the issue with 50 series or in general it happens. I will probably raise a ticket with Nvidia but since my monitor doesn't have official gsync certification I think they are just going to say that this is what's causing this. I mean it could be but then why it only happens with frame gen?

Drivers are pretty bad currently so probably it will be better over time. Same issues on my end, 5080+xg27aqdmg. Alan Wake 2 is unplayable with gsync for me but Cyberpunk is fine. I have tested alan wake 2 with rtss async frame limiter and it doesnt help even if the fps isnt changing. So yeah these frame time spikes are ruining the experience and happens to everyone currently. If you are still playing aw2 I recommend: 3x fg, vrr off, no fps limit and vsync off in control panel too. Its not perfect but this is the best way at the moment.

I assume you have g-sync turned on in Nvidia control panel.

If you turn off frame generation does the flickering issue go away? Describe the flickering a little more… is the entire screen flickering? Only certain areas?

I’ve seen what some may describe as flickering on my AOC 240hz OLED 2k with rtx 3080, but never actually in game. Usually on a loading screen which I simply ignore.

I'm not seeing any of that on my C1/G2/G8 UW on 40 and 30 series during normal gameplay at 60 fps or better. All my displays have Gsync certification and I'm using pretty expensive cables but the internet will tell you a 10 usd cable will be the same lol.... So who knows the only time I ever notice any flicker whatsoever is at really low framerates sub 30 or during loading screens but not in every game.

Sorry for the late reply wanted to test out multiple games on all my screens on both my main computers before chiming in.

Ymmv he's having a problem.

Correct, and everyone should have multiple displays and gpus to rule out specific hardware but unfortunately most do not. He's trying to see if it's a 50 series thing or older generations as well. As well as it could be his particular display.

Since creating the thread I have investigated more and it doesn't happen only when Frame Gen is on. If I select DLSS Ultra perfomance and turn FG off it can also happen, maybe less frequently but still happens, so it seems like the higher the fps to more likely it is to happen. Still raised a ticket with both Nvidia and Gigabyte. Gigabyte is Gigabyte so they didnt reply yet, Nvidia support asked for some basic troubleshooting and have passed the case to higher level team so we will see.

I have also made videos on how it looks:

It's not that much noticable in Cyberpunk, but I think that is simply because that that game has raised level blacks, it never really goes to 0 nits so that's what maybe is masking it.
I have also since then tried connecting with Displayport, with different HDMI cable and that didn't help.
