it seems that there's a little problem in ATITool V0.24 with vsync in connection with the 3D-Detection.
i have set vsync in my Catalyst V5.7 drivers to be permanently on.
if i start a game and the 3d-mode gets detected everything is ok.
now, with games where the 3d-mode doesn't get detected (namely Battlefield 2 V1.0), ATITool seems to override the vsync setting and disables it.
putting the application into the forced 3d mode list doesn't change the situation.
usually this happens only when ATITool got loaded after the windows startup. after playing around or restarting the programm does the trick sometimes and it works then.
(my graphic card is an X800Pro. refresh rate fix not enabled in ATITool)
