so trying to install w10 on sata ssd
and get this prompt.

watching this

he writes select partition size as 5000. why? why wouldnt u select all of it?

mine says 953gb. I dont want any partitions. what number do I ented there? 976896 ? 953x1024 ?

If the prompt says 953GB Unallocated Space and you only want one partition? Just click on Next and Windows will sort it out for you.

it doesnt allow me. it doesnt say unallocated. it says primary. I tried to format it. I tried to erase it. it wont go to the next step. this lexar ssd is a curse ssd. just got it 2 months ago and the most issues out of any drive. that and their nvme

fixed it. after you cmd dispart>clean, you need to exit and re-enter install process and then it will show up as unallocated and you can continue.

Yeah and thats actually the best way to do it. I found out the hard way that if you install on a premade partition, it doesn't include other things that it should, like the boot manager or w/e its called. So if you have another installation of windows, you can boot into either. But if you can take that other one out, you can no longer boot into your new installation. They should really make that more clear because it took me quite a lot of time to fix.

And if you need extra partitions, you can just add them later. Just not before.

Diskpart prepare the disk.
