WEP Encryption Completely Broken

i use a mac access list on my router,no wep or nothing.if the persons mac addy aint on my routers list.......goodbye.

yea basically no one will bother your personal network if you filter mac addressess. a great hacker can still get around it i believe by jamming your router but that just adds to the amount of work needed.

Mac address filtering is one of the worst forms of protection, even I could bypass it and I know very little about hacking. All you need to do is use software which is able to find the mac address of one of the PCs using the wireless network and then change the mac address of your network adaptor to match, which Google has plenty of guides for. WPA is the best thing to use, people trust mac address filtering way too much.

if you use it alone its bad, but its certainly not the worst form of protection. its all about using a bunch of different methods together. dont broadcast ssid, use wpa, filter mac addresses. 3 simple things that will prevent 99 percent of people in your neighborhood from stealing your internet. remember, most people's home wifi is limited to maybe 100 feet. and of those how many really care about stealing internet?
