Let's fire up PS3 and continue Red Dead Redemption. Haven't played those before and as I got RDR2 as a gift on Steam, I may finally play the first one before diving into the second one.

is Elite Dangerous considered one of the best space sims, is it considered better than say Everspace 2? I really want the best best space fighter sim out there (starfield created the itch, but didn't scratch it)

I'm not doing EVE Online, ain't no one got time for that.

i understand that, but also there are things like WoW and FFXIV, the undisputed two kings of the mmo world regardless of anyones opinion, if we look at sales/profits over a long period of time. surely the space sim market has one of those people can just point to no?

Nope. I can say the MMO I play is best because I prefer it over FF14 and WoW. Sales don't mean best.

Best is literally "what is your preference" and no one is going to tell you what that is. Again, it's an opinion.

I hate to say this, but you'll have to hop onto Youtube and watch some let's-plays of each. Everspace1 & Everspace2 are great ones though!

Have you played the first Everspace?

I'm with Toothless on this one. In the FantasyRPG MMO arena, there are a few definitive titles. Sadly, there are none for the open-world space-combat types.

Yeah, Star Citizen
I've played my share of space games but honestly, no, there isn't an endgame - game there, like Baldur's Gate (2?) is the king/best execution of the cRPG, possibly until 3. I think lots of space-related games come out but nothing really has managed to be the full package.

Star Citizen is exactly that, or at least, that's the promise it sold us.

Completed the Phantom Liberty main quest and almost every side quest. At least it seems so. Still exploring the new location. It is way bigger than it appears.

I find that strange you think you beat the main story, but are unsure of it. That doesn't speak well to the plot/narrative structure of the expansion.

I tried playing Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 EE's recently and just couldn't get into them. The controls were a bit janky, but not horrible, everything was tiny it was hard to see, and I don't know it just didn't grip me. I just don't think cRPG is a genre I enjoy, as I have tried a lot of those games. I kickstarted Pillars of Eternity and played a whole 30 mins of it on launch and was like eh not for me. lol

Star Citizen is what made never kickstart anything ever again. Im glad I only wasted 25 bucks on that crap. maybe in 10 years it will be good, but eh

And I can totally get into that. Combat is clunky AF too. These games should spur your imagination, if they don't, well... gameplay wise there isn't much game. You click things, you pause if you need more time. The meat is in the RPG progression, and the story and characters. Also, no cutscene to guide a few sentences of light reading here, this is walls of text thrown at you in text boxes, and your replies are often a whole paragraph too - of which you'll be reading 3 given the options you have ;)

But frankly, other than some QoL improvements, BG3 isn't much different, it just looks better and the combat flows MUCH better. But at its core, its the same turn based/semi realtime concept with the same rulebase, albeit slightly modernized. In all these games, every step of the way might hold some secret or a thing you didn't discover, the recipe is to move slowly and try to check everything - often at multiple moments in the story too.

Me too because I only was unsure about the side quests. And I just got a confirmation as a fixer called me about some new peculiar matter in need of being elaborately addressed...

what they did here really sets the bar one of the best-looking games of 2023, and the optimization is beyond.
this will run 4k in native no FSR. with FSR quality you will have 60+ at high details.

unreal engine 4. Round 8 Studio have a great job.

Now that I've started, I have to finish it, which I never did when it first came out. Anniversary was more difficult in my experience, but the original Tomb Raider still stands the test of time if you enjoy platforming and puzzles.
Mind you, it's not difficult to get disorientated in some levels, especially if they're underwater and you have to backtrack several times over. Anyway, my excuse is that it's a good brain exercise when you're at at the wrong side of 60 :)

Phantom Fury demo is out on Steam, going to give it a try tonight. It's basically a sequel to Ion Fury and remake of Duke Nukem Forever at the same time.
