If you haven't yet, you could try emulating Ridge Racer 7 from PS3. Or Ridge Racer 2 from PSP. Not sure if the copies are easily available! Anyway, those are purely about drifting as fast as possible in a most unrealistic way - and very fun.
For me, personally, most modern arcade racing games are a snoozefest, especially stuff like Forza Horizon or The Crew. Burnout 3 or Ridge Racer though? Now we're talking!

Burnout 3 (I think it was on ps2) is my fav racer of all time. I actually do have fond memories of that game... lol though it might be more for the wrecks and physics at the time than the actual racing, I don't remember its been a long time.

ty for the recommendations.

Trying this demo that goes into Early Access (paid?) on Steam sometime around Dec. 5.

Bit far on the sim side for my usual interests. Apparently Patreon funding is rapidly advancing development leading to jumps and other hijinks that may turn the corner towards some righteous antics befitting a Canadian Tuxedo. As is it could use a transfusion of Trials Rising lite drawing reference from how snowboarders ride these in the backcountry. At the first it was apparent the entire pool of interests feeding into this aren't accustomed to handling big air or similar experiences handling wild situations of one's own making. Like dropping chutes.

Free roam already looks like a lot of fun once you have some sense of control and balance. Racing and other game modes with this level of detail put into recreating terrain should be nutty.

I'd forgotten how good HL2 Ep 2 is, but this character is a tad irritating, although his sticky bombs are a nice touch.

Screwing around with Nvidia control panel settings got me interested in playing AC: Origins. Getting the hang of it better tonight which is making it more enjoyable than in previous attempts.

random 1080 cutscene while I continue vacillating over system upgrade components.

Assassin's Creed® Origins2023-11-22-1-30-56.jpg

Also slowly improving at Sledders trial. This could end up being a great game and then possibly a graphically enjoyable one. Especially racing if it stays away from full on becoming a full on sim. Nauseatingly complex setup, fuel concerns, etc.

Wartales;
Level 8, some companions moving to lv 9 now and pretty far into the game. New regions keep on giving, a lot of elements are repetitive, but there is still enough change as you progress to keep things fresh and corner you at some point. 48 hours in now. Still enjoying it.

The Ludern Region is a big step up in difficulty. Only one forge in this region, so I can't get enough raw materials to keep repairing my armor between fights. New mob types appeared. Bandit groups suddenly are not 8 enemies, but 10-13 strong. The game throws the question at you 'get more companions' that way; I stuck with the 10 I ran when I entered, but definitely considered adding more. However, more dudes is also paying higher Wages and using more food and even more repair materials. Pretty neat how the challenge scales up.

ODD (heh) thing happened today. When playing Steam's Half-Life 25th anniversary edition, if you happen to have a music CD inserted in your drive, the game will play those songs during the levels. So part of the old code *was* restored back into the game.
I guess they didn't count too much people still had disc drives and music CDs in them.

Bought Immortals of Aveum on Steam since its on a 50% sale and like I've previously posted in the game's topic if it drops to ~30 Euro/$ then I will buy it since I've liked the demo and that much I was willing to pay even if its just a one time playthrough fun experience. 'that and at least I can use this game to torture/test hardware with in the fure in case I upgrade:laugh:'
Definitely pushing my current PC to its limits but its still manageable/enjoyable for me.:)

I tried Grid 2 back in the day and found the steering to be overly sensitive, it was a bit difficult so I DNF'd it.
Grid 2 was their attempt at simulation but Grid Legends is pure arcade.

I do not understand the thing where they have characters look like actors and then have the voices just be those actors. At this point it seems creatively bankrupt to me. Instead of creating characters and their looks and then find voice actors that can do that character they go "Hey what about Gina Torres, she was cool in Firefly right".

Ha, I think this had everything to do with a massive Hollywood actors and writers strike. Would've been funny if they did the extensive character modeling and then had to voice them with someone else. (They'd have shelved them and sued someone instead of releasing them and really really badly getting sued.)

Your timing was impeccable after finding myself watching a few moments of a deep to disturbingly so 4.5 hour critique of AC: Origins basically tearing Ubi and their recent conduct to shreds. Notably the oddities of placing A list plot lines (character or scene development) and highly atmospheric cinematic elements into the same pool as B movie underpinnings. Creating an overwhelming air of creative bankruptcy. Not to mention the existence of micro-transactions etc nagging at ability to enjoy playing without blatant commercialization leaking into every corner of a game.

Ha, I think this had everything to do with a massive Hollywood actors and writers strike.

.... well, no. See Keanu Reeves in Cyberpunk, plus video game production lasts for years, the strike was for a few months. I don't mind celebrity actors doing voice acting if they're good at it (see Jack Black in Psychonauts 2), but getting those big names for the sake of having a big name is detrimental to all of entertainment (see Chris Pratt). Voice acting is not the same thing as acting.

EDIT to add: It's part of the Enshittification of Everyting, by which in this case I mean it feels everything in pop culture has to be a nod to something else. See Thor: Love and Thunder, which could have been a fun movie if it weren't for Taika and the Fun Gang was too busy making Pop Culture References. Do silly homages and references, but don't wink at the camera while doing so. Have Lance Reddick in Destiny 2, sure, but don't have him be just Lance Derrick. Have the voice sure, but please do something with the character instead of just a close-enough 3D model of them. And hey remember this?

I don't either but it doesn't bother me at all, sometimes I don't even notice cause I'm not familiar with every actor. 'She did look familiar to me in Aveum but I wasn't sure + did not check so if it wasn't for your comment I wouldn't even know '
Jack Black was great in Brütal legend and I also think that Keanu did a good job at playing his character/role in Cyberpunk.

Maxed out monowire is super broken as well, you go in through the front door and whip the f... out of everyone.

Now hard mode would be using only power pistols

Fallout 4 for the first time. Vanilla run.

It's alright, feels like it's really drifted far from the core concept at this point, taking itself too seriously and not seriously enough in all the wrong places.

Nevertheless it's fun.

Tying the physics to the frame rate is one of those coding things I just don't get. It's absolutely rage inducing that running the game at 144fps means my character cannot jump high enough to reach basic spots while caping frames at 60fps makes the game take ages.

Fresh new puzzles for me! Some of them are so easy, in hindsight, while others..

They really put the effort in the presentation; the vistas, the sounds & music, the voice-acting.
Also you have a lot more freedom. So far The Talos Principle 2 hasn't disappointed [9/10]
