EA finally brought Alpha Centauri to Steam. And it's on sale for $2.

(Yes, I have the GOG version, and have purchased multiple CD copies over the years... but I'm happy to throw two more dollars at it, for the Steam integration if nothing else. Gonna cross my fingers and hope for cloud saves.)

CLOUD SAVES ARE GO.

I AM UNREASONABLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS.

smooth as in its optimized well like the DOOM games? or smooth as in it looks like a soap opera effect?
No, mos def not DOOM. It's not there yet. Idk, let's called it that nostalgia played a trick on me.
However it did feel like I was playing on a older console with a gamepad rather than m&k.

After the last crash I lost my Necro girl in Last Epoch. So I started again, now with better choices in passive/active skills...I hope.

The Rip Blood (steal) [Q] is so good. Let me steal your health for me :D
Fire and poison are still something to look out for but as long as there are enemies I have health.

It's not quite at the level of where i would be convinced of it being real, but it is impressively good looking and detailed !

And the impressive thing is that it all holds up in quality, even when you walk as close as you possibly can - i suppose that is nanite at play.

This game runs well or UE5 stutter like UE4?

Just finished Need for Speed (on PC) after 23 hours of gaming.
Already done on the PS4, to me a great arcade game.
Graphics are still good and the sound is really great.
When I've beaten it on PS4, I drove my usual cars, RX-7, Supra, GT-R etc ... so for this replay, i've choose other ways : Mustang, Viper and Corvette.
Great times with these US cars and what a sound !
The (arcade) handling on the drift races is so good, it's really a joy when you've mastered it.
You can change the behavior of the vehicule, going GRIP or DRIFT ... well DRIFT make the drift course a bit easier, but i've managed to won drift races with a GRIP-to-the-MAX Viper.
In fact, no need to bother changing the drive mode. Normal is good for the most of the game.
There is a lot of FMV in 1st person like an old Sega-CD game :)
At first, I didn't want to hang with these guys, but hey, there's a scenario to follow ...
It seems they're living for cars, hanging around and drinking Monster brewage ...
Not so many cars, but it goes from the Golf I GTi to the Ferrari 458. You can visually tune most of the cheap cars, and not really change a thing on the luxury ones.
Last thing, you can have other human players on your game, they're driving on the map, and they're still driving the map during your races.
So, basically you can crash into a player who is just visiting the town :) during your race and loose some time. It's a bit annoying, but the game is not hard.

View attachment 337436
Cannot resist to the Supra ... Still looking good for a 10 years game, no ?
View attachment 337437
Ok, the RX-7 is fabulous, but i've done almost all the drift courses with a Mustang !
View attachment 337438
Here my mighty Viper, graphics pushed to the MAX
View attachment 337439
Here, graphics lowered to the MIN, but the Viper is still mighty :) Difference between low and max are very subtle ...

ME legendary right now, ME1 obviously ... aaaahhhhh yeah just how i like it ... only 11hrs and just doing that mission :D
playing with my TurtleBeach Stealth Ultra is a bliss ... unlike the Xbox 360 the 4 assignable buttons (under the pad, and i like them more than the paddle on the Elite or Scuff models) make it more pleasant, i can keep my thumb on the left thumbstick and give team order without the need to reach the D-Pad

excited for 15.03 for Outcast since i got the key and activated on steam... did not play the demo, replayed a bit of 1.1 and second contact for nostalgia's sake, but no, i will dive in it blind as soon as it hit release.

ME legendary right now, ME1 obviously ... aaaahhhhh...

I played not long ago the entire ME Legendary remaster, and the Halo Master Chief Collection remaster. Of the two I was more worried about beating TMCC on Legendary, as I never had before. I was thinking Combat Evolved was going to be too hard after recalling many times dying to the Flood in the Library, and the many grenades in the corridors near end game. Even early in the game when you infiltrate the Covenant ship, you get attacked by cloaked Hunters and waves and waves of enemies. It's super hard to get your team to last very long, and I always died there even on Heroic mode.

However, I'd forgotten that one of the DLCs for ME, the Citadel, had an INSANELY hard battle against Shepard clone at the end that I never got through on Insane mode. So I eventually managed to beat all the Halo games on Legendary. I just had to go slow in the Library and take one section at a time, use the cloak power ups to take out the Hunters quickly and toss grenades where each next wave spawned, then go slow again in the corridors, watching carefully for grenades.

Combat Evolved is still very tough on Legendary, but for me it was more doable than that battle against Shepard clone on Insane. They're really both very good series and well done remasters though that I enjoyed immensely.

For Mass Effect 3, there's another ridiculous battle if you opt for the mirror match in the Armax Arena.

I need a game with vehicles like that on the moon with turrets that resembles a RC Pro Am meets Excite Bike track environment mixed with Twist Metal and Mario Kart vehicular combat and racing. Early concept art.

Might as well add Wave Race into the mix and give it away with preorder mobo for Lunar Lake.

Just started Hogwarts Legacy.

I've heard many negative comments about this game: magic in it is boring, it's just the books/movies all over again, it's just a walking simulator, the graphics are bad, etc...

My impression is quite the opposite. Learning magic is fun, the graphics are nice, and there's nothing wrong with reliving the books in an interactive game, in my opinion. Only the walking simulator part is somewhat accurate, but I love these slow, exploration kinds of games anyway, so that's that.

All in all, I'm having a good time with this one. :)

New game, Zoria: Age of Shattering. main game is building up a keep while exploring surrounding areas. Keep has upgrades and follow missions, which reminds me of an older game that did this but i forgot what game that was.

Yes it is. Everyone should give it a try. The physics are amazing. You can't destroy a building in a standard way though. It will hold on that tiny piece of wall somewhere and it won't crumble down. Apart from that, everything else is just awesome.

I had a really nice time playing through the story line. There's more to do afterwards, but I'll never finish my backlog if I do that.
I know that feeling, a lot of games are like that these days. :ohwell:

I forgot to mention, the main reason I'm enjoying Hogwarts Legacy so much is because it kind of reminds me of the first Harry Potter game adaptations from the early 2000s that I played through many many times as a teenager. Even the music soundtrack sounds similar at times. Combine that with an open world, and it's a straight win in my books. The story is just a nice bonus. :)

Yes it is. Everyone should give it a try. The physics are amazing. You can't destroy a building in a standard way though. It will hold on that tiny piece of wall somewhere and it won't crumble down. Apart from that, everything else is just awesome.
I've just noticed, it's already on my wishlist.

The destruction reminded me of Red Faction (2).
