OK.. I gave The Last Epoch another chance as Mage and it has been more entertaining, first run was a Necro and it bored me to death.

Would benefit with more graphical and sound enhancement.

Yeah, the necro is overpowered. Once you have the horde they do everything while you can easily sit back and relax.

I picked up a few games on the steam sale.

Battlefield 2042
Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition
Last of Us part1
Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order
Star Wars Jedi Survivor

I gave up on Battlefield years ago, but my oldest wanted me to get it so I could play with him and his buddies, like the old days. Plus it was only $8.99. I already played the Jedi series, Since me and the oldest share Steams accounts, and since I enjoyed them, they can have my money too.

The real world - Golf is something irreversible you contract that is an equal among the worst social diseases.
Sim games - Golf sims are an irreversible synthetically developed social disease requiring you to enter into a sales contract.
Arcade games - Golf is suddenly irrevocable amounts of slightly challenging fun in direct contradiction of a good walk ruined.

Golf Club Wasteland reminded me of a comment earlier in this thread about shovelware becoming trendy. Way too much effort was expended making this a good copy of something you pull out of a billion game pack costing less than server space it occupied for a moment in time.

I tried that game several times now, I can never beat the first map. I got like 20 minutes in one time but I died... I can never unlock the next map, which I think requires surviving for 30 mins. I suck at games and life apparently. lol

I will give it another go. I bought tonight Halls of Torment, which is the same type of game as Vampire Survivors, but it uses nostalgic type graphics and a bit of an RPG system I think. Haven't started it yet, but will soon.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
i am having so much fun playing Outcast "2" ... i am glad they did a remake of the first one, because even tho i played the fist one in 1999, i had a K6-2 3DNow with 512mb RAM at the time  but then in 2000 i got a Duron on socket A with 1gb RAM and an Athlon Thunderbird a few month later (and the 1.1 remaster recently ) i still have the CDs of the original game somewhere (and probably the manual )

20240316072448_1.jpg20240316073033_1.jpg20240316073549_1.jpg20240316110207_1.jpg20240317085925_1.jpg20240318180719_1.jpg20240318182501_1.jpg20240318184757_1.jpg20240318195452_1.jpg
i need to de-fog that with a mod  but darn the game look beautiful and run smoothly (only 1 crash in 10hrs)

the remake make the transition between the two, easier  but Outcast was definitely an awesome game graphically and technically speaking even in 1999
although the "Voxel" (in fact it was rather a Ray Casting engine and not a true Voxel Engine ) was taxing on CPUs, specially the one i had when i bought it.
336610_screenshots_2015-03-03_00010.jpg618970_screenshots_20240310112241_1.jpg

and Outcast "2" bring so much about what happened to Cutter Slade in between, but he's not voiced by the same VA, in the original it was David Gasman (which hilariously did sound like Bruce Willis )
my first thought: yep, ya got old cutter (and so did i! ), 2 decades but yeah, that's what you would expect for a character when he get 20yrs in the legs
(interestingly the sequell is 25yrs later and iirc they also mirrored that in the game, more or less 20yrs in game from what i gather) and sound old but, still good enough, hilarious and all ... (although, he shouldn't look or sound old, a huge plot twist, no spoiler, is in the mix, that make his change almost invalide ... but it's fine)

fun bit : Appeal intended an Outcast II : the Lost Paradise but bankrupted in 2010, sold the franchise and then reacquired it in 2014 (then they remastered it to 1.1 same year and remake 3years later )
glad they re acquired the franchise and made "A New Beginning" :D

and imho the change in the main character is not as bad as the one i saw between Elex and Elex II

edit, well after 10hrs i decided to drop a manual save ... i searched in the inventory for a green crystal ... did not find it ... then i saw "Save Load" well i am single ... so i save loads on domestic spending ... oh wait ... WHAT? no Gaamsaav? outrage! uninstalled!! REFUNDED!!! (obviously a joke ... :p )

Bought the Callisto Protocol on sale. Jeez. Pile of shit. Loved Dead Space. But this? Made by the same guy, I think. It's atrocious.

Clunky mechanics. Combat is gash. More linear than anything I've played in a long time (including Dead Space). 3/10.

you should play the single player story of CoD Infinite Warfare, it's incredible, 10/10 (full disclosure I never played the multi, specifically referring to the single player of that game). I convinced @WhiteNoise to give it a go and he ended up really liking it too. I honestly really wish CoD would make some $39 single player only campaigns, like Infinite Warfare 2 single player campaign would be an instant pre-order for me at $39.

I finally managed to kill a Skriton in Jedi Survivor with no damage taken, on my NG+ Jedi Master run! OK, truth be told I waited until the several Imperial troops it ambushed wore it down, all of whom didn't survive. At my age you have to play smarter, not harder. LOL

It really isn't all that easy though to do such a thing even if they are worn down because this giant Scorpion-like creature protects itself with one of it's big claws, and can also grab you and smack you with it and it's tail. So you have to time it just right when it's guard is down.

Last Epoch, training wheels off, cooking up my own meteor-slinging Black Hole fire mage. Or lightning... I cant decide yet.

Got a Harbinger of Stars too so I can trigger meteors off fire crits... its damn hard to manage mana wise. Good fun

wait... mages can cast a black hole type spell in Last Epoch? that sounds really interesting as a spell idea, and slightly OP lol

I turned my Black Hole into a fire damage type... it doesn't suck anymore, but I've got a Meteor storm triggering off it :) Oh yeah, that single Meteor spell now throws five rocks instead

Diablo also had a black hole already ;) https://diablo.fandom.com/wiki/Black_Hole

Is fire OP in LE?
Dunno, I just know I'm melting the entire screen right now. But, I haven't started timelines yet - level 53.
If you go by min-maxing standards, no, I don't believe the Sorcerer / fire damage nor Meteor/Black Hole are top tier builds. But you don't need one, is my take of LE. Game's pretty easy with any build that just looks for synergies in damage types. I don't really fancy the idea of split damage skills and the Mage has a lot of them, but you can generally convert them to one damage type. Much easier to gear for.

If I compare this to the pretty OP Bladedancer I've got now, I think the Bladedancer is better overall... having slightly better defensive measures like Dodge/Smoke Cloud and high mobility instead of Ward; though this Sorcerer is starting to close in on overall clear speed now that I've got some cooldown reduction so I can use traversal skills more. Teleport also generates three (pure fire, also specced this skill) Elemental Novas in its path, so it also clears mobs.

When it comes to survivability... Decoy / things like an Arboreal Circuit that also spawns a Decoy when you get hit are top tier stuff. Taunts and temporary minions as punching bags. Teleport can also generate a Mirror Image for similar effect. The only disadvantage is probably clear speed because mobs will move to the decoys so you're likely not moving forward through the map.

I'll see if I get to posting a short video of this Sorcerer in action. Its pretty neat to look at.

Some Last Epoch as OP Necro and a bit of Grim Dawn

I think I'd still rate GD slightly higher than LE, game has a lot more character. LE feels a bit like Immortals of Aveum, generic bullshit sauce, no artistic talent whatsoever, just make it shiny and the noobs will buy it kind of art. Also the voiced dialogue... just no, should've saved themselves the trouble/expense IMHO. But none of that really detracts from the gameplay, to me, which is good.

wow, you had some really beefy systems for it's time, i had 512mb ram in my 2007 pc and our first home pc back in 2003 had 256mb both had under 2ghz single core cpu
Nah that's just a slightly more exagerrated gold plated Lara going 'Oh noes!'
Also minus the gold, which is probably the reason.

Bought the Callisto Protocol on sale. Jeez. Pile of shit. Loved Dead Space. But this? Made by the same guy, I think. It's atrocious.

Clunky mechanics. Combat is gash. More linear than anything I've played in a long time (including Dead Space). 3/10.
Yeah it was baffling to me how that ever happened. I guess he burned all his motivation on Dead Space but didn't realize it, or something.

I gave Steam another chance to make good..

Sniper Elite 4 >> I was last here in February where i outlined my problem with this game. :banghead:
I initially had problems with steam when my SE4 DLC would install but not be recognised or playable. Now, after sending emails to Steam Support (Rebellion who have never replied) all my DLC now play. :kookoo:
I don't know if the problem was on their side but 'their silence' speaks volumes... I'm now playing again..! :)

Against my better judgement I decided to buy EAFC24.
I like football enough to buy a game about it, but I don't have enough time for football manager 24 (fc24 is also on a good enough sale, so)
