I have decided to upgrade my pc to
core i7 2600k,6g ram,1TB sata 3 h.d.d,motherbored asus
so should I keep my HD5870 or upgrade to either HD6970 or Nvidia gthx 570???

Keep it, who knows what the next thing gonna performe like.

You would get a bunch of extra gpu power, but worth it? when you already got last-gen card (mid-higher)

Keep the GPU, but 6GB on a SB Platform doesn't make sense. You're better off going for 4GB (2x2GB) or 8GB (4x2GB or 2x4GB) since it only supports dual-channel. Also, do you actually work for IBM? I only ask because I do as well (albeit in a crappy Manufacturing job >.>;;)

and no I dont work for IBM,the (IB) are the first two letters of my first name.
the(M)is the first letter of my father's name.

The old socket 1366 i7's were triple channel. Sandybridge is all dual channel.

I kept my 5870 when I built my SB rig in June. There is no big advantages in the 6xxx series to justify any kind of upgrade.

I went from a Q6600 at 3.2 to this i7 now at 4.6 the former pulled 19k in 3DMark 06 to 29k with the same card.
I plan to wait until the next series to upgrade GFX. I haven't found many games it doesn't run perfectly fine cranked.
