What is 3850's memory chips rating.

Does any one know what the memory on the 3850's is certifired at? I know the 3870's have 1200 MHz mem. but what do the 3850's have? I am curious as the 3850's mem. have oc' to 75 MHz shy of the 3870's. (Tom's Hardware) It is looking that the 3850 may be a pretty good deal after all if they can oc' to near the 3870's, and espically with the now $90 price difference between them on Newegg. :shadedshu

ATi's reference specification is set at 828Mhz (x2) for the GDDR3 so that would suggest to me that they will all have 1.1 or 1.0ns chips. If they are 1.0ns you should be able to get 2100Mhz out of them but only if the voltage is sufficient, that may be your limiting factor.

My Sapphire 3850 can OC to 2198 on the memory (1099x2) however this is the limit of the CCC overdrive and not the card. (the slider won't go any further)

It is benchable at this speed as well however my whole computer bombed before a 06 run completed due to the central heating coming on (my pc is next to the radiator which is normally off)

Its funny now I look back lol however at the time I was like **** it, I have just killed my brand new card lol. I went over to the case expecting to smell foul burning smells only to near burn myself whilst leaning on the radiator (rolleyes at self).

Needless to say I will check that in the future (I can't move my case due to my desk layout and where the wall socket is)
