what is pci-e x1?

what if it says pci-e x1/ pci-e x16...... does that mean it has two pci-e slots and I can sli/crossfire?

you can use pci1,4 and 8 cards in a pcix 16 slot, that could also mean that you can use 1 card in the PCI E slot.

PCI Express with one available lane. PCI-E lanes are scalable to x4 , x8 , x16.

The only thing I know of is that crappy version of the Creative X-Fi card. I'm sure there's other things like RAID controllers or controllers for other things like an SCSI card or something.
