the great thing about asrock is it's (B.F.G) Boot Guard Failure it makes overclocking easy and simple becuase if you go to far it will reset to default and it is stable and reliable. also asrock is a spin off of asus (asus is the best motherboard on the market but the most $$$ also)

I would get the DFI Infinity 975X motherboard. Great motherboard, better overclocking. DFI is always the best for overclocking, and I'm sure you'll reach really high overclocks with your E6400. The P965 Chipsets don't seem to overclocking too well and have a wall, so 975X it is.

DFI Infinity (i975X) and Intel BadAxe (i975X) my top of the list ones.

I suggest you read the reviews of all the C2D mobos available before you do anything else. Also, there are other forums with lots of people that are OC'ing their E6300's, E6400's, etc. and they are using various boards and posting their results. You should do a search and see what you can find.

Lastly, dont believe anything you hear about the 965 chipset not OC'ing well. Do your homework.

all boards i have seen are good and overclock well but they have problems in 400 fsb, i need a mobo that can be stable when the fsb is set more than 400 mhz, i looked for DFI INFINITY 975X and i saw that people has problems to pass 400 mhz, i need that because the multiplicar is only 7-8 on these CD2 and u have to set a high fsb to overclock

Most, if not all, of the problems people are having with the 400FSB wall are with the 4mb Conroes (i.e. E6600, E6700 ). And even they are figuring it out and hitting higher clocks.

The E6300 and E6400 are both hitting 450+FSB on air and stable with minimal vcore increases on the Gigabyte DS3, DS4, DQ6, ASUS P5W DH Deluxe and others. Also, most of the problems people are running into deals with their choice of RAM.

a mushkin or a gskill that runs at pc6400 or ddr 800 it would be good , at dual channel that is 400 mhz so they can be at 400 fsb without problems

it depends on your cooling and your cpu for a e6600 you only need a mobo capable of 400 mgh fsb so even a gigabyte ds3 would do the work
