Intels Quads offer more than enough performance for running the latest games (unless you want all the performance you can get, and found $10000 on a corner of some street).
Some people buying computers now, might be trying to buy futureproof products. Would something in the future require a lot more processing power, some people that bought weaker processors at the time Would lose out.
What kind of realistic performance increase would the phenom IIs provide
Let's try to settle some percentages (i.e. The phenom II 920 is 20% better than the q6600) and let's also compare them overclocked, because no person would sit on goldmine without tapping it!
