Still an old iPhone 8

next one might be a Motorola. Some way cheaper options vs even the intro iPhone.
Those cheap Motorola phone now are like the Nokia of the 90s. Won't stop can't stop

Not really. My moms Motorolas disagree, and all the smartphones i've ever owned also disagree. It's all in how you use them: If you use your phone a lot (as in "my smartphone is my main game machine" and "of course it's connected to a PD charger 24/7 how else am I supposed to Game") it'll die faster, if you use it not so much (as in "wait what why are there games on my phone and what is this Social Media I keep hearing about?" (as in "wait you people use your phone for other things than phone calls what is this sorcery")) it'll last longer.

Why would I use a phone for gaming? But your are correct I only use a phone for messages and calls. Call me old fashion. Just like a 90 Nokia

Why would I use a phone for gaming?

Everyone needs a phone, most people need a smartphone. It's cheaper than a console+TV. It's cheaper than a gaming PC. You can play together with friends. You can play anywhere. Mobile gaming is as big as console and PC gaming combined.

Got a deal on a Pixel 8a (traded in an old Samsung Galxy S9 for it, the carrier had a deal where they allowed tradeins for basically any old phone). The camera is sometimes better than the one in my Sony Xperia 5iii, sometimes slightly worse, and that is the only thing I care about. I'm going to use the Pixel 8a as a daily driver and keep the Sony around for when I want to get more serious about photos. What I will say is that one of the most common praises people give the Pixel phones is that it's as close to stock Android as you can get, but what they fail to mention is that a) you cannot remove the Google search bar, and b) you cannot remove the At A Glance thing. So "stock Android great!!" but UI elements you cannot get rid of and they use up UI real estate. So annoying.

Not sure about a daily, but I can see this absolutely being useful as a backup phone or just a second SIM for emergencies. But, seeing the size, I would expect the battery life isn’t great?

Still using a Pocophone F1, and apart from replacing the battery and installing LineageOS its doing fine on both software and hardware.
I guess the only thing I'd like differently was a bit better camera, but can't really complain that much.

Vivo Y33S due I get i for around 240PLN ~61$ a year ago broken phone + new screen that I bought to replace it.
Stand by mode 14days battery life my usage give me 2-3 days between charging
Ram 8GB ROM 128GB 50mp camera ok screen.
Recently I drooped it and now I need new screen but prices of screen drooped now cost me only 63PLN ~ 16$ - only glass broken but I do not have experience with replacing glass on screens.
even if this 2022 phone it getting updates and will support android 15. Screen and battery is still in use in 2024 in different model thx to this no need worry about spare parts.

Moved to an iPhone 15 because my S22+ battery was awful. Like 3:30h of screen time awful even at 60Hz. Oh well.

Been pretty nice so far. Battery has given me up to 8h SoT and gets me home with battery. Performance is great and screen looks great. All I really mind o.o

I have a Samsung A03s. It isn't good, but I don't like smartphones and literally bought the cheapest one I could find from a reputable brand. I use it as little as possible.

My dream phone would have a small (5") screen, headphone jack, microSD card slot, a nice camera, and a minimum of bloatware. So basically a flagship phone from 2012. I did use an iPhone for a bit (5s) and it was fine, certainly better than what I have now, but I really didn't like how locked down it was. Androids are marginally better.

So I'm using an iPhone 10S 256GB model. It replaced an iPhone 6s (which I still own) and has been pretty solid. When I was looking for a replacement for the 6s, the iPhone 11 was available, but I really wanted an iPhone that still had/supported 3D Touch so the 10S was my last, best option at that time. Actually not sure what I'd get as a replacement for the 10S if/when it does need to be.

Definitely surprised me positively. I think many people overstate its shortcomings.

They exist! I find it stupid that they put a 60Hz display on a 2024 flagship, but it... doesn't feel slow. At all, even on the lowest refresh rate.
Apps run a lot better than on my S22+, too.
