Haswell-E is still 4th Gen. Broadwell and Broadwell-E is 5th gen.

Not by numbers. 5000 (5820K) series is 5th generation. What Intel actually uses inside is another thing because HEDT is alwas lagging behind mainstream architecturaly.

Yes, the HEDT numbers always start with one higher than the architectural generation. But that doesn't change what generation the architecture actually is. SB was 2000 SB-E was 3000. IB was 3000 IB-E was 4000, HW was 4000 HW-E was 5000, BW was 5000 BW-E was 6000. They finally brought the HEDT numbering in line with the mainstream by combining Skywell-E and Kaby Lake-E both into 7000.

5820k on the main machine, have no reason to upgrade as far as I can see.

I stand corrected saying I'm "one of the few" with Kaby Lake. I guess it's popular than I realized.

your pole does'nt include Fx, yes it's old but its also the last Big x86 Amd made prior to Ryzen v many generations of intel.

its clear how this poll will toll out too since Amd went missing from big x86 for most of the time covered

still rolling with an Fx8350 ,i consider it shaby sheek at this point, almost like having a Q6600 round to play with but im gaming on it so cant complain ,saving for its replacement now, im up to £4 tut.

I have an Intel 8th, 7th, 4th and I just sold my Phenom II x4 system.

my PC is a 5930K@4,3 and LT 4010U, Wife has a 4690K@4, big son 4770 and my little son a Xeon E5640 (1,5Gen) an last the MCPC 4460

i9-7900X
i7-8700K
Two i7-7700K
i7-6700K
Ryzen 1700X
Ryzen 1600X (My Wife's PC)

There is a large number of Broadwell-E users on X99. Sadly we are grouped into other.

On the other hand I do use a Threadripper at work. So yeah, choosing that.

Kind of like a fat old cow that can still cycle out plenty of milk....

Currently running a i9 7980XE, AMD EPYC 7401p and a E5-2683 v3. All crunching 24-7.

This poll makes me wondering whether any mouth-watering new processors are coming out of either side. Mainstream 8 core from Intel? Or insane 28 core for X299 HEDT?

New threadripper in a few months is what I heard. Very interesting.

With AMD Ryzen and Ryzen second generation being on the market for some time we are wondering what processor you use in your main rig.

4790k still going strong here :)
What if you currently have at least 5 of these gens in use now? I cant really vote.

I surveyed (Poll) on my daily driver and listed in order of use.

Notebook, NAS, Desktop.

Until it dies or games become too much for my 4770k, that's what I'm rocking with.

"main rig"
I have 2 main rigs, one for editing and one for gaming. In my editing rig I'm running a 1950x, my gaming rig consists of a 2700x.

Running my Q9450 again as my 6700's PSU needs to be RMA'd

Wow so if you combine Kabylake and Coffee lake, it's still less than combining Ryzen and Thread ripper....

Wouldn't have seen this 4 years ago haha. Enthusiasts are switching to AMD...

Moments like these makes you want a 32 Core 64 Thread Threadripper 2 running 4GHz.
