Cool little thing. Let me take my currently unused "intended for the field" (like I go anywhere lol) 14" Thinkpad with iGPU and turn it into a mad gaming rig cart with a 6900XT. 4x PCIe lanes over USB 4 isn't THAT bad.

And before you panic, I'm not insane. Virtually everything important but the gpu is bolted down, and the PSU's short power cables ensure it isn't going far. The portable monitor in particular has it's "fold-out" flap bolted to the table surface. It's a 120hz one.

Interestingly, this setup claims resizeable bar is working, but I am 99% certain from the page that it's not due to Lenovo bios fun... @W1zzard ?

Congratz! I had to double read and check the picture to see the laptop under the GPU. I wouldn't mind one of those. Aaand that's a cool project.

On a side note, I do have something to post, but I will keep it a secret until Saturday morning, so I can take pictures. The box arrived yesterday and I guarantee it's right for this section.

@Super Firm Tofu I remember awhile back you tried out the 30mm thick Antec fans, budget version of the same extra thick famous Phantek fans. Just wondering, what was your experience like, did you notice a before and after temp change?

on-topic: just bought? my first e-sim, not sure how to word this... lol but I switched phone carriers two days ago, and I went with an e-sim for the first time, pretty neat experience, was very seamless.

edit: future tech purchase is going to be a 32gb cheap ram kit for like 40 bucks for my next work laptop, not because I need it, just so I can give the middle finger to $999 MacBooks with 8gb ram, such a dick business model, lol

Just as a very quick one, should really learn to post these things up before midnight......

Ordered some stuff last year and my mate from the US shipped it over to me..... (I've put these pics in thumbnails cos there's a few..... :laugh:

) Since I've not been in a rush with this, its fine its just arrived!!

Inside the box.....

Ignoring a few films and some Funko Pops I got for the girls....... We had these in there.....

Not sure what I'm going to do with this 3080 yet but as its water blocked, I'm quite tempted to put in with a small system, water cool it all ...... Umm.....
A few NVME drives which where too cheap to ignore... 2TB models I believe??

And a bit of a step up in RAM... My Threadripper was hungry......

But then because of the price of the kits over there.....

So out with the old and in with the new (when I put them in the right slots.....) ..... So before.....

And then after...... Each kit is the same. I went with, rather than timings or out and out speed, I went with a happy medium of both and capacity.....
Getting them installed and booted was fun, seeing a 128GB however does just about seem enough to run a few tabs in Chrome and hopefully get Crysis working... Maybe not at the same time but......

Although, oh my god Asus, what have you done with the software (Aura) for the control of the RGB... I'd like to simply lower the brightness of it and Jesus there's a mission to understand how to get that working and running.... Now the question is for silliness, do I add in another 2 kits to make 256GB or shall I put them into something else..... I'll never need it but for Achievement unlocks and such.... Maybe :laugh:

I think the silver RAM and CPU/GPU blocks do go nicely together and the white light (however over powering at the moment) isn't bad either

I didn't try them but I was considering the Antec 1 case that had them as the stock fans. I never bought the case, but I've had the 3-pack of the 120mm in my Amazon cart forever.

I just checked and there's a 5% off coupon right now so it'll be less than $38 shipped/taxed so I just ordered. My main concern was noise so I guess I'll find out. :laugh:
