I would get a 2GB card. Historically, from what I have always seen since the 9700pro days is that Radeons tend to have more longevity in the tank when it comes to performance. So while they perform close to each other now, I'm willing to say that the 7790 will be more ahead a year or so from now. Either way, that is all negated any how because I think a 2GB card of either vendor would be best for a worthwhile gaming investment as well as resale.
