It is a 92mm, with 6 dual heatpipes, it is currently setup for G34 they came with my AMD server and I cannot find it on any of the Noctua pages or googling. I am hoping to plop it onto a narrow ILM setup and I know Noctua sells a narrow kit, but need to know if it will fit on this one.

@sneekypeet do you have a contact in Noctua? According to math the bracket will work fine and they are both securefit2 or whatever they call it.

I do, you just want me to confirm it will fit?

Found this on site for the ILM kit:
"*The kit can not be provided free of charge for DX series Intel Xeon coolers. If you would like to use the kit with these coolers, please purchase it a local reseller. Also note that this kit is not compatible with the NH-L9 series low profile coolers and DO series AMD Opteron coolers."

Seems your cooler, falling in the DO series, will not accept the kit. Also if you look closely at the link you sent above, and the cooler images you have, the bases are different, even though the holes may be in line.

You can send an email to Noctua. They are known to have good CS.

They might even send you a bracket for free (they do that often when new sockets come out). In that case all you'll need is a proof of purchase.

From what I can tell the base is in the interference zone outlined by Intel, so they might just be resolving themselves of liability.

They also screw from the top not the bottom, so it could be something as simple as the DX series coolers have a threaded mount bracket and the DO series have a threaded base instead.

I did I am waiting for an email back they run in CET so they currently are not open. I am hoping they will just sell me the bracket and it works, worst case I am out $10-20.

The brackets might be out, have you tried ebay as a backup in case? Check for stock while waiting for a reply?

The narrow ILM I have not been able to find through any venders, ebay included. The regular 2011 stuff is all over, so hopefully Noctua has them, but if not I may just order the entire cooler off of the egg and a mounting kit through noctua and sell it back on ebay or something.

@cdawall My rep did get back to me from an earlier email.... I sent him the link to read up on the thread.

"Just because one poster brought that up: The brackets of NH-U9DX i4 (or any other of our mountings) won't work with the DO A3 coolers because they have a much larger base so different mounting for the fastening brackets.
Hope this helps!"

Yea someone on OCF has two of the coolers, one with the same style mount as my DO and one with the same as the DX. Just enough off to not work. What a shame to be honest these coolers are a full 100G heavier than the DX models. Thank you for asking for me I do appreciate it.

Almost the same. I previously used a U9B-SE2 with SecuFirm2. I thought the mount would be the same when I changed to a U9S. Did not align. The system itself is the 'same' but the actual dimensions changed just enough to not work so I had to use the U9S bracket. I believe it's just the top mounting plates (the 2 curved bars) that had a different positioning for the screws.

Sorry, @cdawall i just remembered. The O in the name stands for Opteron, and the cooler is only designed for AMD server mounts (like G34's). It won't work on anything else. The DXi4s are made for Intel server sockets.

The funny thing about Noctua coolers is that the universality of Secufirm 2 only applies to consumer sockets.

What's interesting is the U9S uses the same mount that doesn't work with anything else. I wonder what made them change it.
