So I have my current system running on the MSI k9a2 CF V2 790x with an athlon x2 4000+, with 2 gigs of OCZ gold 800 DDR2 pc6400 ram, and a sapphire radeon hd 2600xt with 512mb of gddr3. within the next 2 months Im going to be upgrading to a sapphire radeon hd 3870 toxic/vaporx, and also a phenom x4 9850 black edition. Would I see more performance with games on my machine if I upgraded the GPU, or would i get more out of it if I went for the am2+ to unlock the pc 1066??? Im goingto do both upgrades soon, i just want the better of the 2 first

GPU, without a doubt. Modern games are gpu limited way more than cpu.

And besides, all you need to do to run your ram at 1066MHz is OC. :D

Sigh. . . .

The downfall of PC gaming.
Having to upgrade the GPU every year to get the best enjoyment from the latest titles.

GPU for sure. Your CPU is strong enough right now to handle the latest games, but your GPU isn't.

Looks like it's the GPU then :)
