I'm thinking of getting an x800 card but i'm not too clear on the suffixes ( pro, xl, gt, xt, gto, blah, blah) & what they mean for performance. Muchly appreciated if someone could give me the low down.
Cheers

Cooling Arctic Freezer 7 Pro
Memory G.Skill 2x1GB 800 HZ
Video Card(s) eVGA 8800GT Superclocked 512mb
Storage 2x Hitachi Deskstar 160gb in RAID 0
Display(s) Samsung 204BW 20"
Case Thermaltake Tsunami
Audio Device(s) Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music
Power Supply OCZ StealthXStream 600w
Software Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
here is the order (top= worst)

x800
x800 GTO
x800 GTO 2
x800 PRO
x800 XL
x800 XT
x800 XT PE

i think thats right, the GTO's might be out of place, umm everything x800 XL or below has 12 pipes instead of 16, lower clock and memory speeds and some have 2.0ns memory instead of 1.6ns memory, for best bang for the buck id have to say x800 PRO and unlock it to 16 pipes, or mabey a x800 GTO2 if you have PCI-E

x800 pro factors:

-If vivo, unlockable to 16 pipes
-a lot can go to x800 xt pe speeds

x800 GTO2 factors:

-can unlock to 16 pipes
-a lot can be flashed to an x850 xt pe
-iv heard new batches are NOT unlockable

someone correct me if im wrong on something, i dont know it all perfectly

EDIT:

Heres a chart, dont mind the pricing since the pricing is out of date

Cheers for the info, it's helped a lot:respect: I'll probably get a gto. Out of curiosity tho, don't spose you'd know what the equivalent nvidia card would be?

Guess it'd be a normal 6800 maybe? Although I think a 6600GT is also in about the same performance category... It depends also on whether you want to overclock, because some of the GTO's and GT's can overclock like crazy. ;)
