White light after attempting to flash bios via Flash BIOS Button (MSI PRO B650M-P)

Hello, I'm currently building my first PC and I ran into an issue while trying to flash the BIOS. My CPU is an AMD Ryzen 5 7500F so I wanted to make sure that the BIOS was up to date to support it as it was highly recommended to do so when I checked the compatibility online. I followed the steps provided by the motherboard manual but while waiting for the BIOS flash to complete, I accidentally stepped on the power cord and unplugged the power supply.

When I realized my mistake, I tried to reboot the PC to resume the BIOS flash process, but now I'm facing an issue. There's a flashing white light at the top left of the motherboard (next to the Flash BIOS Button port), and the Easy Debug LEDs are showing a red light.

I’ve done some research and it seems that the flashing white light might indicate that the motherboard is either partially or completely bricked due to the interrupted BIOS flash. Can anyone confirm if this is the case or suggest any troubleshooting steps I can take to fix it?

Here are the components I’m using:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7500F 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor
  • Motherboard: MSI PRO B650M-P Micro ATX AM5
  • Memory: Patriot Viper Venom 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36
  • GPU: ASRock Phantom Gaming D OC Radeon RX 6750 XT 12 GB
  • PSU: MSI MAG A650BN 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, as I mentioned earlier I've already followed the step-by-step instructions from the manual and watched several videos on the topic including the one shared here.
I followed the steps provided by the motherboard manual but while waiting for the BIOS flash to complete, I accidentally stepped on the power cord and unplugged the power supply.
I have followed these steps once again:
  • use another USB stick and format it on FAT32
  • download the latest bios version and rename it to MSI.ROM (show extension to make sure it's not MSI.ROM.ROM.)
  • then make sure only and only the CPU_PWR1 and ATX_PWR1 cords are connected to your motherboard and power supply nothing else and do not power you power supply on.
  • Plug the USB stick inside the flash bios USB port and press the flash bios button

the LED light on the flash bios button is a steady light which means the motherboard is bricked.
I will now initiate an RMA and hopefully be eligible through the online store I bought it from as I purchased the motherboard in August.

Your power supply was ON before you press the bios flash button on the rear IO panel?

I’m asking because I don’t like what I read here on the 3rd step:

The cmos battery im unaware if it ties in anywhere besides maintaining the rtc and settings

Just to clarify. You don’t press the system ON, but only the PSU 0-1 switch to ON.
Agreed bios flash back utilizes a micro controller. It would be odd if they implemented the logic inside of the area that could be bricked.
