A PC can't be compared to a dumb gaming box with a completely locked down ecosystem. I have several consoles, meaning I don't hate consoles, but they are cheaper for a reason. Games are more expensive than PC and online play is not possible without paying, even cloud saves are a no-go, all free on pc + pc games can be modded and optimized to perfectionThis doesn't justify anything.
I would hate to get involved in these types of discussions but its not like you would find any of these in a decentralized desktop platform right?
Consoles as far as I am aware have never used cutting edge hardware (when compared with the best PC hardware). And to be honest, it doesn't have to because even a Zen 2 based PS5 for example, is still unpacking textures faster than the fastest CPU you have right now, plus, if the target resolution is high, we are more likely to run into GPU bottleneck first. And if you think like Zen 6 is bad, you just have to look back to previous gen consoles using the super slow Jaguar SOC from AMD that's even slower than the Intel Atom chips at that point in time. Yet, they game pretty well back then.We have heard news of Microsoft's FTC leaks showing their vision for their next gen 2028 console using Zen 6 and RDNA 5. By 2028, this type of hardware would have already been 2/3 years old. This is different from the Xbox Series releases when Zen 2 was 1 year old and they were using the latest generation of graphics cards during 2020. Why do you think Microsoft would want to use hardware that would be last gen by release and why didn't they have this type of problem for the Xbox Series consoles?

I would argue that gaming consoles became, and still are popular today for 2 main reasons. (1) More available games for the console
Yeah, my bad!!!When was that the case? Unless you are ignoring all the games that are on PC only, the unlimited backwards compatibility on PC and the fact that you'd have to own all the consoles in a gen to get even close to the variety of the PC library.
