Why does my fps drop from ~120 to roughly 3 on fortnite?

My pc specs:
I5-3450
Strix GTX 970
500GB Seagate HDD
8gb DDR3 1333Mhz
OCZ ZS Series 650w PSU

Any suggestions?
Running the game on the lowest graphics possible at 1366x768 with no background apps with Nvidia settings all the way down.

Forgot to mention but whenever I check task manager the cpu is near to 100% and so is the disk

Please help!

Benchmark Scores theres nothing to brag abt potato, but it can run decent 30fps fullhd with good setting:)

In most online shooters your FPS is directly impacted by network performance or packet drops. Not 100% sure about fortnite (haven't played it), but even some new games built around latest graphics APIs suffer from this issue. The ones that do it properly, usually manifest other things like players "warping" or "stuttering", while FPS still stays stable. It's just the nature of online games. There's no way around it.
