Got a bloomin dodgy stick of ram I think...

What happened was I thought I would do a super pi 32m test, which it was going through fine no probs at all, I wanted to cancel it so I could shut my comp off because I had to go out! Shut down fine after I quit it...

When I got back in I went to boot up and it hung @ post screen just after it checks the ram, which it said OK, but I noticed the amount of memory was saying to much, I have 2Gb and it was saying 2096Mb, which is wrong! :shadedshu

So after reseting cmos to see if it would boot, which it didnt, wouldnt even let me into set the bios up either!

So I then went to disconnect all hard drives except the obvious, ide connected drives etc, so I could cut them out of the equation and left 1 stick of ram in, and it booted but said the amount of ram was 1047Mb, which is wrong! :shadedshu and it is still doing that now after flashing the bios incase that was messed up!

I guess a stick has died because it just wont get past the ram test, which it says OK, just wrong amount

But would I not get a beeping from the motherboard if the ram was defo dead and would it not say the ram was ok if it wasnt?

Any ideas greatly received

I know 1Gb = 1024Mb, 8 bits in a byte and all that!

Why is it booting with 1 stick and when I swap for the dead 1 it doesnt boot?

Or if I try both it doesnt boot, just 1 that I am using now!

I can try that, but for it to be working fine for weeks since I got it, then just decide to die, makes me think bad stick!

I got ram and mobo from same place so may rma both to be on safe side if I cant get it sorted!

Its 5 weeks old! Its all in my specs ;)

I will just phone the tech support from where I bought it tomorrow, I am fairly sure it is the ram, but could be the mobo  its defo not a D9 problem as it was working fine since I got it and im fairly sure the oc I had on it wasnt too much for it and I only gave it 2v from 1.8v def!

As its sister stick runs fine, I guess it is the ram!

Oh well these things happen!

My PC says I have 1045Mb of RAM when I only have 1Gb, so it's not far off what yours reads.
