Got a bloomin dodgy stick of ram I think...
What happened was I thought I would do a super pi 32m test, which it was going through fine no probs at all, I wanted to cancel it so I could shut my comp off because I had to go out! Shut down fine after I quit it...
When I got back in I went to boot up and it hung @ post screen just after it checks the ram, which it said OK, but I noticed the amount of memory was saying to much, I have 2Gb and it was saying 2096Mb, which is wrong! :shadedshu
So after reseting cmos to see if it would boot, which it didnt, wouldnt even let me into set the bios up either!
So I then went to disconnect all hard drives except the obvious, ide connected drives etc, so I could cut them out of the equation and left 1 stick of ram in, and it booted but said the amount of ram was 1047Mb, which is wrong! :shadedshu and it is still doing that now after flashing the bios incase that was messed up!
I guess a stick has died because it just wont get past the ram test, which it says OK, just wrong amount
But would I not get a beeping from the motherboard if the ram was defo dead and would it not say the ram was ok if it wasnt?
Any ideas greatly received
