Why the huge price swings in 9800gtx2?

Well I was browsing newegg for fun today and noticed that there are some HUGE price differences in the 9800gtx2 lineup. From $285 for an EVGA or PNY to $600(!!!) for a BFG.. what gives? They aren't open box and while some of them are overclocked from the factory, is 80mhz enough reason to double the price?

There are consumers that will pay the extra $300 for that 80mhz oc, thus there are manufacturers that will charge that much for it. Simple enough, if someone will pay for it, someone will charge for it. BFG more than the other companies I have seen charge outrageous prices for their top end nvidia cards. Especially on newegg, they end up looking like they're out to to the consumer.

It's the same with the HD 3870 X2. It looks a good idea choosing it (9800 GX2) over a GTX 280. Of course the "higher power draw" argument creeps in, but the $150 gap with GTX 280 makes up.

At those prices pretty much anyone looking to upgrade shouldn't overlook the 9800GX2 at $285............mine arrives tomorrow.

Thx for the replies, I guess I was shocked to see so many of the same cards spec-wise vary in price so much. Even stock cards can be double the price from each other, which made me wonder if I am just missing something when it comes to differences between them. Shoddy manufacturing? I dont think so, PNY is a reputable OEM as well as MSI so I find it hard to believe that there is any difference in the $280 PNY vs. the $600 BFG.
