CPUs cannot be bottlenecked by GPUs. It's the other way around.

Yes, you are completely fine. The 3600 can support up to a 2080 TI. Also, Regeneration said CPUs can't be bottlenecked by GPUs, but they can. For EX. A get 710 with a 3950X. The CPU can't utilize its potential because the GPU isn't strong enough

Yes. The 980 is still a pretty good card and the 3600 will allow for future upgradability. If you don't know what I am saying, just know that those together are completely fine.

Yes like I said, For EX. A get 710 with a 3950X. I don't think he understands what a bottleneck is.
A bottleneck is when one component is limiting the other components. If you were using a get 710 with a 9900K. The cpu will probably experience very little utilization in.. for ex. games. If you threw in a 2080 TI the cpu would be utilized a hell of a lot more. Any component can bottleneck another. Just like a hard drive with the OS can bottleneck a system with a 9900k and 2080 ti.

That CPU can handle a faster GPU without any problems. I have a 2600 & 980 Ti and they're pretty balanced I guess.

To some degree. I had FX 8350 and 1080 ti for short period. In games CPU would peak 99% while GPU would run in low 30.
Now when I switched to R5 2600 it was all fine though.

I still can't believe how bad the fx series was. On paper it seems good, in reality those 8 cores are the worst 8 cores anyone could use.

The 3600 is a wonderful little CPU, I have one on another rig that's not in use right now with a 1080 Ti, ran perfectly when I used to test it.
In some of the benches, 3600 was almost up there with my overclocked 7900X as long as the threads didn't exceed 12.

Yeah, it is a very good price to performance chip. It is crazy to think a 175 USD CPU can run a 2080ti with no bottlenecking.

Your 3600 is more than capable to drive GPU's faster than a 980 without issue, You are fine.

Why would a much faster cpu hold back your gpu? Your current cpu holds back the gpu...the new one will let it rip.

No, a Ryzen 5 3600 will not bottleneck a GTX980. You're fine.
That's flat out wrong. There are plenty of GPU's that will bottleneck a CPU.
