i am wondering if a am2 hsf from a 3800+ single core will work with my athlon II x2 240? the tdp for the 3800 is 62w for the am2 version and my 240 is 65w for tdp. thanx

Yep it will do just fine. As the stock heatsink for a Phenom X4 945 is as good as the old X2 5000+ heatsink was and it keeps it cool. :toast:

If its an AM2 socket then yes. If its a 939 then no.

The board in question is in my specs, but ya its AM2/AM2+/AM3 board and the proc is am3 based.

AM2/AM2+/AM3 all use the same cross bracket. You should be good to go. However I would suggest you get a better cooler. Also don't go cheap on the thermal paste ;)

It just has to hold me over till the 20th of this month. I got some Arctic Cooling MX-2 for the paste which I know is decent.
