..so is another coming out soon?

Pretty sure Crytek are in financial hell right now, so I wouldn't expect a great deal in terms of development besides their engine which is currently their lifeline source of revenue.

This will likely happen when they start selling those supercomputers for home use, and then the next installment would run at 20fps on such a machine. Right?

really disappointed to hear this with the sales of the crysis series there should have been enough profits

They were hurting so badly they sold off their half of the publishing right to Homefront: The Revolution to the owner of the other half, Deep Silver.

On a footnote, that project run by Dambuster Studios, which is all of Crytek UK's former studio that worked on Homefront: The Revolution , is set to release the game May 17th, still using Cryengine.

Crysis 1 ran on too few computers so sold poorly, despite a massive following. Crysis 2 sold well but received far worse reviews than the original title - it ran better than 1 but sacrificed everything that made it a unique title. Crysis 3 ran poorly on most midrange hardware and receieved mixed reviews.

The result? Crytek couldn't pay it's employees for months on end, staff got angry, and mass resignations and layoffs were rampant. It was kept quiet throughout the media. Their only source of revenue came from licensing the engine and from bundle deals of their previous titles. Unfortunately both unreal and unity went for a free model for personal users and a tiny subscription model for developers, so crytek were forced to follow suit, significantly reducing their guaranteed profits from licensing.

I would assume also the sales were not up due to the fact it was not released and sold on consoles. But what rcoon said makes sense. Just the level of hardware required to play will instantly hurt sales

Hang on guys, my bad.

Crytek UK was dissolved apparently. It's now a fully German company?

First one was the best... ran it on a SLI GTX280...

There is enough lore from, still nobody really knows if Nomad is truly dead. So that department is okay.

We need another fresh title. Cryengine is still updating and alive... let us see.

And how did ryse ,son of rome sell ?

Amazon signed a deal for their engine. Remember some lead developers from ubi or someplace joined them for a little while.

It would be a shame to see them dissolved

Actually, parent company, Crytek is German. But, as I understand it, apparently UK laws required that Dambuster Studios employ the former Crytek UK studio staff. So Crytek UK is dissolved, but the employees in the UK still have jobs. This leaves Crytek only operated in Germany.

That's for the VR stuff I guess...

Crysis 1 still looks better than most new games so complaining it ran bad when it was released is a bit off statement. of course it ran poorly, it was so ahead of its time.

The funny thing is, it probably sells better now, almost 10 years later than it did in its release year, now that nearly any PC can play it decently.

I ran it last month... it still keeps my system very busy on max... 60FPS+ yea... but not much more on certain action paced scenes. The thing scales poorly with multiple cores.

What saddens me is the crysis series is one of the ones I actually paid for. I hope the release another more similar to C1 vs the rest. C2 was to consolie for my liking and I didn't get into C3 like I did C1.

You're apparently not aware of how utterly irresponsible the Yerli bros have been financially. They'd have been alright if Cervat hadn't started doing a Bernie Madoff impression.

c rysis 2 was the best in the series

Frankly after preordering crisis 2 only to see it drop to 16quid by the time they got dx11 working (I wouldn't play it without its main sold on feature) ,then actually playing the big coridor shooter that is crysis 2 I hope they sell the IP on to Bethesda or someone.
Somehow they didn't get what was liked about crisis, the feeling of being dropped in it up to your eyeballs, yet you can deal with it how You want and from any angle.

I liked Crysis 1 better, but I did like 2 better than 3 it was the overall gameplay that made me think console.

I know. Part 4 will be the persistent korean general morphed with the alphaceph :D

Spoler alert... but I wonder who hasn't played crysis here... pretty much safe.

The first one just spoiled us. Jungle and real leaves and trees, the river. Then the wasty ICE level, the trip inside the mothership a bit heli action. A nice old school Rambo style action movie... with part 2 and 3 they went too much into scifi rubbish. It aint mass effect. I really didn't like the idea of alcatraz then it suddenly still changes into previous owner... the some resident evil virus and etc skinning Pscyho and making him look like and old sore looser. No no no... they really could make more fun of the Gordon Freeman suit mark two.

Oh I can't agree with that at all.

I hated Crysis 2 when I played it, felt nothing like the original and more like CoD. The aliens changed and so did everything else. :shadedshu: I replayed it again in full and I really hated it.

I liked C3 better because it had a better feel, better environments, just all around better imo.

But nothing can compare to the original, fantastic game. I still go back and play through it here and there and always enjoy it. I actually liked the aliens in the original as opposed to 2/3.

I liked Crysis 1 better, but I did like 2 better than 3 it was the overall gameplay that made me think console.

You think 3 was more console-ish than 2, or both more console-ish than 1?
