I know you guys are pros at computers... I just wanted to find out how long until my system becomes obsolete.. I bought it 2011

Intel Core i7 Processor i7-2600K 3.4GHz 8MB QUAD CORE
INTEL STANDARD PROCESSOR COOLING FAN
Asus P8B75-M/CSM LGA1155/ Intel B75/ DDR3/ SATA3&USB3.0/ A&GbE/ MATX Motherboard
4GB (1 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1333MHz (PC3 10600) Dual Channel
SEAGATE / WD 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB CACHE SATA 6.0Gb/s
22X DUAL LAYER DVD-RW W/LIGHTSCRIBE
EVGA GTX 760 SUPERCLOCKED GRAPHICS CARD
BCC VOYAGER MID-TOWER ATX
(SPECIAL) hec X / ROSEWILL 650 WATT HIGH PERFORMANCE SLI/CROSSFIRE POWER SUPPLY

sadly I cannot overclock because of the motherboard and plus It is limited only to 1333MHZ of ram... Im really not sure if that will last for long.. Please give me an estimated in years.

As a gaming PC, Internet, or what use? It could last quite a few years. Really, nothing to worry about until you feel, through your PC experience that you need to upgrade something.

It says, 1x4gb on your specs, stick another 4gb stick in for 8gb in dual channel.

That motherboard was launched in April 2012, the video card less than 2 months ago. The system should be adequate for gaming at least for 3 or 4 years. Since you have a K series CPU, consider upgrading to a Z68 or Z77 board to extend the system's performance by overclocking - that $80 board you have is basically for business machines. 2600Ks are very good overclockers, and by not taking advantage of it you're losing out on 20-40% of your system's potential.

agreed, get a z77 motherboard, and a better cpu cooler and OC that 2600k...

OMG this forum really is the best.. you guys reply fast.. I was going to check in a few days.. thanks for all the opinions.. i actually might upgrade the motherboard and yes i will be using this for gaming and Im hoping it does last on the max settings

technically your system is already "obsolete." Question is, is your experience with your PC up to par? If it is not then maybe its time to upgrade, if it is then wait till it isn't.

EDIT: But like said above, you should really have a z77 board to unleash that 2600k, and some better cooling.

Please if i can have more opinions the better

As I said, stick another 4gb in it if it's for gaming, and I agree on changing the board.

Click on usercp at the top then click were I marked on the pic, and fill in your system spec, it will help others to help you.

if you just using for all around i guess you can run it for next 2 or 3 years. but if you demand more you can buy better processor and new board. the rest you can use.

He doesn't need a better proc. Just a board that supports overclocking so he can unleash the 2600k.

I built my machine 5 years ago when x58 came out. i'm just now upgrading and I don't even really need to. I store a shit ton of stuff so storage wise i'm way over you.

The only two things that are not appealing to me are
4GB (1 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1333MHz (PC3 10600) Dual Channel
SEAGATE / WD 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB CACHE SATA 6.0Gb/s

More ram (8gbs ish or so, I found 6gb on my system is a bit low with multitasking, VM's games, etc.)
Get a ssd for the OS and a few 'core' games you play, use the 500 for a storage drive.

Just my $0.02

Right now that's a sweet rig even with the 2600K on a latch.

My suggested COA: keep it as it is now but keep looking for a deal on a good Z68 or Z77 board, as Intel is switching sockets again you might find some. Once you get the board think about getting an AIO water cooling unit and overclock that 2600K (the stock cooler won't cut it for overclocking).

A 2600K at >4.4Ghz would be a force to be reckoned with for many (3) years. More if you don't mind playing at mid settings for a while. RAM speed doesn't have as much of an impact on Intel platforms as it does on AMD platforms so 1333 for the RAM isn't that bad but I would at least get another 4GB stick or you could go straight to an 8GB 1600 kit.

It says, 1x4gb on your specs, stick another 4gb stick in for 8gb in dual channel.

I would definitely start with adding another 4GB stick of RAM and run 8GB in dual channel.
If you are wanting to overclock then you are going to need to get a decent Z77 or Z68 motherboard and a better cooler for your CPU. If you are not interested in overclocking then stick with your current motherboard, but please get a better CPU cooler (doesn't have to be anything fancy or expensive).

The CPU should be good for years to come. Most new games will be designed to run on the next-gen consoles and they will likely have a long life-cycle just like the Xbox360 and PS3 did.

That might change if you go ultra high defenition or multi-monitor.

Change the memory all together. 8 Gb 1600 dual Chanel mim speed. Your good for 4 years 18 days. Really no way to tell but your good for awhile

Your system should have a lifespan equal to Freaksaver's system

and I expect my 2600k to last just as long. As others have said, new motherboard with Z68 or Z77 chipset and 8 gb of RAM total (whether you do another 4 gig stick of 1333 or upgrade to 2*4gig sticks of 1600).

Hell, I bet my i7 860 system could last another 3 years with a RAM and GPU upgrade.
