Windows 10 Attains RTM Status

Does anyone know if a insider license is transferable from a VM to a new PC without a previous OS? Is the key linked to the Microsoft account or the "hardware", basically stopping me from running the OS on real hardware?

Anyway, i don't think Win 10 is ready for launch yet. The mix in new and old settings windows is somewhat reminiscent of not finished open source projects. Also while reading this topic Win 10 gave me the infamous "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" message... in the VM.

to the hardware. you could run a spare hard drive with windows 7/8, upgrade that and it should transfer.
the key is a generic one and it verifies online by the microsoft account.

I'm stuck on a brevious build (10160) and can't update to 10240. WUpdate seems to think everything is okay, i'm a little annoyed as my other 2 computers have updated fine. I'm wondering what will happen when it's finally released, though I guess it doesn;t matter too much as I was planning on updating from a windows 8 licence (assuming everything worked well on release)
you need to be logged into your microsoft account before it will get the latest updates.

I am. I think it's because it's so close to release date, they aren't pushing any more builds through update. The ISO files have also been removed from the MS Insider site.

Why would you need to transfer the license? Any OS that is signed up for the Insider Builds is seen as legitimate.

i think he means for the win 7/8 upgrade process, so he can transfer off the insider.
