Windows 10 Upgrade Begins Rolling Out in Waves

can anyone *CONFIRM* 100% how to reinstall with a 7/8 key at a later date?

Its not so bad if you have to reinstall 7/8 then upgrade again, but it'd be nice to know if our keys get upgraded and can be used for either OS at a later date for clean install.

This, and what about TechNet keys?

I'm still trying to get an answer to that from Microsoft.
Apparently the rumour was there is a 30 day "cool off" period in which you can revert to the previous O.S. after that period the key is upgraded for use with W10 only.

well, i better see how this fares with my dozens of windows 7 technet keys before killing my two windows 8.1 keys then -.-

I'm only "upgrading" one of my machines just to see how it fares.

So with being able to do the iso, does this mean I can use the same code later when I upgrade to Skylake system or should I still wait?

Good question, since no one knows what MS means when it says this upgrade copy is free for the life of the system. No one knows if that means it effectively operates as an OEM or not. If so, then upgrading to Skylake will likely mean it's time to buy a copy.

New Motherboard, new license, at least for the free version of W10.
If you buy a retail version you can transfer.
If he waits and moves to Skylake then installs the free upgrade he doesn't have to worry.

Correct, that's what I was trying to explain, LOL!

Welcome to the new nanny state W10, sit back while they wrap you in cotton wool and tell you what they think is best for you.

that is a drama that i bet will get resolved soon enough. I'm expecting an option you can change that lets you manually approve driver updates.

And that hoped-for fix is why I am waiting it out, since W10 is hardly necessary for gaming (my primary usage of PC) at this point.

You have to run the Windows 10 messy upgrade first, and allow it to activate. Only once you've run the upgrade can you then do a clean install over the top.

deym, i should have read this before i did it... now i think i have to redo everything back to square one...

and I have had this for a week+ so... have fun waiting in line guys. Hope you get more than 50kb\s

Probably got the same problem as me. Open the start menu and type "activate". Click on the box that has something to do with checking windows activation. Mine simply hasn't activated.

Am I the only one that windows 10 haven't activated yet?

My AMD drivers installed perfectly fine. Hearing you guys story make me not want to touch my Nvidia based PCs.

had update prompt and updated, then halfway through installing I had an error and my computer would not boot anymore so I reinstalled windows 7 and updated it completely and have no get windows 10 app

any ideas

Nope, plenty of people with activation issues. Provided you did the "Upgrade" and not a fresh install, it's supposed to activate automatically, but it hasn't for me.

Ok so I'm having a problem, I just upgraded my old Asus laptop which had genuine windows 7 home premium, no I'm getting Error code: 0xC004C003
The activation server determined the specified product key has been blocked.

I have the following options:

Change product key
Go to store

This really sucks balls and I'm not a happy camper right now...:banghead:
If I had known that I would have problems with this I would not even upgrade it

Always make a disk image of your current setup before the upgrade. If you don't like the new o.s., all you have to do is wipe your drive and restore the image.

Can we buy it already? For my "messing with rig" I prefer no upgrade but full version, rest of the house can use upgrades because.... not messing with those pcs....:)

for those lovely ones that think this is stupid, iam running out of licences ;-)

Now just wait and hope that microsoft will release some fix soon for this

INFACT!

microsoft said that this would apply to home editions, pro editions would not be effected by change of hardware

I got the logo on my windows 7 for the past 3-4 weeks to upgrade to win10 which I'm not going to do right now...
Nothing in life is free or totally free so there is a catch somewhere that they are not telling

I'm sure that Micro$oft after a few months or a year will ask you to pay (~$100/200) for you to continue using W10 or they will start making you paid for updates like Apple does...?

Then it will be to late to revert back to your windows 7/8 unless you still have the original DVD or key...

All I know is that I don't care that much about it as for the past 5-6 years I don't play PC games anymore ~5-10 hours/years maybe? & I never liked playing online games (multiplayers) & never will

Maybe because games are so boring now a days?
Sure they have better graphics but where is the fun now?
Maybe Half-Life 3 will be good if they ever doing another one?

Anyways If I ever do upgrade to W10 later on I will just buy the DVD instead of an upgrade now & paid later kind of thing...

Has anyone that downloaded the above got this to activate, mine said it wouldnt activate something about the service problem. so i downgraded back to 8.1

I downloaded via the above link.
