Pull down 150% of existing installed binary ubuntu binaries which are already installed and compiled on my gnu gentoo box anyway.
Its not like snap or flatpak are much better. But you use gentoo right? Kill it with fire and turn off the steamruntime USE flag. Thats where 90% of steam overinstall comes from. Of course then you may have to hunt down some missing libraries but that's the cost of entry.

I find I don't care much when it comes to gaming though, the games are binary blobs anyways (as is the gpu firmware, if you want to get super-purist. Granted nvidia is a worse offender there).

But this is pretty offtopic, just realizing. Feel free to pm me if you want any tips, tricks, or just Gentoo banter. Glad to have you here, fellow user. :)

i Know it's an Old topic and a lot of thing on windows 11 get there hands on windows 10 too, and the windows 11 is less buggy since the launch,

i have i5 13400 and as you know it's P/E Core intel CPU and in terms of this windows 11 thread scheduler they work better than windows 10, but is it really noticeable?

i watched a lot of Youtube Vid but i want to know the real answer.
Learn how to debloat windows 11 and remove windows update completely, along with telemetry, then learn how to install security updates via powershell. They aren't that much different from 1 another.

It'll take valve awhile to consider dropping support, they dropped support for 7 at a decent enough time. I'd probably say it'd take 20% or less number of steam users using WIN10 before they finally drop it. Especially considering Windows 10 is more popular than 7 too, comparing their peaks.
Its almost a 16 yo os, Understandable. Im looking at ways to make 11 debloated but feel like 7, now just how to figure out how to restore control panel to its glory.

I resisted but I’m happy with 11 and 10 loses support this October so not reason to move to 11

but for my personal machine yes
That's what I meant. I tip my hat to you, that's an impressive thing.
I think my couple employees would pull a sudden "Ceaser state policy discussion" on me if I dumped it on the workstations, and I have no friend named Brutus...
Ween them in gradually. Mint would be a good way to do that. Just an idea.

It's clear people don't want Win 11.
Some, sure. Not all.

Windows 10 is way faster on desktop.
No, it is not.

The only thing that legit gave me a hard time was an ancient game I once played called "Rise of Legends" and even that I made work in the end. :)

Wow.. when you put it like that..
It saddens me, that was the last OS MS put out that made sense and was intuitive, and professionally gorgeous, unlike 8.0-11.

I agree with you on this. Windows 7 was the apex of Windows development. As much of an improvement to the UI as I feel 11 is compared to 8/8.1/10, it's still nowhere near as good as 7.

They(microsoft) chose(wisely) to return to a better UI design language, it is much better than Windows 8/8.1 or 10 ever were. The location and method of use for critical functions are much better and more smooth then 10. They also make more sense. There are, naturally, some irritations that go along with any changes made, but IMPO, they are far fewer and far less annoying than with 10.

Win7 -> Win10 was far less annoying to me than Win10 -> Win11, which I will not be able to use on the desktop.

At the end of the day I find Windows 11, in the state I configure it, to be a delight to use and because of that I am very happy with it. I would sooner(and happily?) go back to Windows 7 or abandon the Windows platform altogether than to ever use Windows 10 again.

If you choose to give 11 a go and want to tips for getting the most out of it, come over to the Windows 11 Discussion thread and chime in. I and many others would be happy to help. There is also the web site called Eleven Forums which is a wonder resource for Windows 11 specific info, tweaks and customizations. Like everywhere on the net, careful who's advice you takeover there(or even here). Mr Brink and his staff(all of whom are clearly defined) are safe sources of info some of the users however are not to be trusted(looking at you Kari). Blink themselves created many of the articles I used with every install of 11 I perform on my systems and those of my family.

For that serious configuration you need third party tools and at least the ones I've tried (to specificially add toolbars to the taskbar) clash with the rest of the design, not to mention a lot of those tools are only avaliable in english and if they are translated they are poorly translated (as everything is these days). What specifically have you done to make your install up to your standards?

Using the tools above, I have removed all of the things I don't want in my install as well as removed hardware limitations inappropriately imposed by microsoft.

What specifically have you done to make your install up to your standards?
Have you looked at the links above? They're self explanatory. I also use a set of custom reg files and service management tweaks but the above utilities are the important ones.

Do you need to use the PC for gaming? If not then you could install Linux and install Windows 10 or 11 in a Virtual Machine provided your PC is beefy enough.
the software besides games work better with windows too.
But for a basic web surfing & media "viewing" (I throw up at word "consumption") any linux is ok. Oh yes, I do realize, that for "servers", too, lol.

Why would you want too? The whole point of using LTSC on a personal PC is to be sans all the crap and fluff of a normal consumer install, including the ms store.
yes, though recently I found myself "okay" with Photo crappy-app for pictures view, lol. I won't seriously install in 2024-2025 any BS from 2000-s like "IrfanView", "XnView" etc. LMFAO. I liked Windows Picture Viewer but it's fkn obsolete now bcuz it sometimes shows stupid errors like "showing this image is out of memory or image is broken", when "Photo" crappy-app works ok and even Windows Live Gallery from 2011-2012 works too, but this BS needs also stupid old .NET framework installation of dynosaur era for whatever reason so I start to be less conservative with Photo app as I know the machines I use it on are snappy enough to be not slouch from such stuff, and using slightly older Win 10 build as I mentioned above helps not to be bothered with extra "bloaty" services from newer builds to slow-down even pretty "fast" machines. :)

I am on a debloated Win 11 pro install. That's my vote.

These are the means.

well, LTSC 2024 could be better I believe. But, as I stated above, any pro/ent 21H2-22H2 hands down win-win vs any 23H2-24H2 bcuz of buggy updates this time lol

Seeing Windows 10 grew with 10% in the Steam Survey they perhaps will.

It's clear people don't want Win 11.
i would love to see that happen, i genuinely dislike windows 11 for various reasons (main reason being stability issues). My recent install was an awful experience and it seems i won't give it a try anytime in near future.

Doom Eternal was free for me on microsoft store, and I was trying to play this game, and that was when i learned windows 10 ltsc install was to old, cause game was playing only on 21h2, and it was fun to play with ltsc and microsoft store (I am masochist).

Windows 11 biggest issue is desktop latency windows 10 is snappier in gaming that's not so noticeable.
but 10 is faster in gaming.

I've done similar testing and encountered margin-of-error differences. Sorry, not buying claims like this.

vs any 23H2
23H2 seems to have been fine. I've had no issues with it personally. 24H2 however has a serious problem. Removing Edge(which I do by force) causes the file manager(Windows Explorer) to bug out.

(main reason being stability issues)
With fresh install(even of 24H2)? If so, you did something wrong. Fresh installs are the way to go for now. With all of the Kernel changes, updates are a mess, true.

Come on people, it's fricken Windows 10. It was a stinker to begin with and it's over. Why oh why stick with it? We're not talking about Windows 7 which was the most excellent version of Windows even made, we're talking about Windows 10, the lipstick on the Windows 8 pig that it is.

@AlirezaGhanbari
Choose 11, customize it to your liking and enjoy. Never look back at Windows 10.

mind you, in my case there is something weird, i have done upgrades a few times in the past and they were fine but i reverted (personal preferences) and yes this time it was a clean install so the slowdown was unusual

This why all the weird crap is going on. These kernel changes have been less than smooth for updates.

For a fresh install to get wonky, that's a new one to me, haven't seen it and have been doing it by default for anyone who has update issues with 24H2.

I'm going back to windows 10 ltsc, 11 ltsc with retrobar has some problems, and using new ui from windows 11 is just not for me, and one more thing, windows 11 is real pain in the .... when it comes to customization, You need 3rd party apps for taskbar to be on left or right site of monitor, registry tweaks for normal left click menu.
So my vote for 10 ltsc, or debloated 10 if the ltsc is not supported for games anymore in future.
Edit. ehhh 4th reinstal of windows in just one week -.-
