Windows 11 22H2 causing gaming issues for some NVIDIA users

Now that the rollout of the Windows 11 Update 2022 has started, the first problems are also emerging.
There are several users who suffer from poor performance in games.
The exact cause is not yet known, the majority of those affected seem to use an Nvidia GPU.

Windows 11 22H2 causing gaming issues for some NVIDIA users

According to user reports, the Windows 11 22H2 feature update released earlier this week is causing gaming performance issues on systems with NVIDIA GPUs.

NVIDIA is investigating the issue, roll back the update to fix the issue.

I haven't had issues myself yet (RTX 2070 Super) with few games I played recently.

Windows 11 22H2 added new graphics debugging tools which are inadvertently getting triggered and this is leading to some users to see lower performance in games.

This issue is addressed with GeForce Experience 3.26 BETA. This update can be downloaded from the URL below:

Please download the update and share if the performance issues that were introduced after updating to Windows 11 22H2 are resolved for you.

No need to speculate.

I upgraded three systems to Windows 11 since this June and have downgraded two (one just two days ago).

Many probably won’t experience any major issues. I didn’t but there were enough cumulative minor annoyances to return to Windows 10 (which itself isn’t particularly lovable).

Might be better to install it first on a “disposable“ test system. My guess is that my daily driver desktop PC and sole notebook PC will stay on Windows 10 until mid 2024.

Ive been running Windows 11 since release. No issues here. And it's already been found that the issue was related to Geforce Experience. So either dont install it or update to the beta.

I don’t recall anything, the actual upgrades went uneventfully.

Just remember to upgrade to the GeForce Experience beta.

Just unplug your ethernet cable from your computer if you want to use a local account. Or better yet, make a boot drive with rufus and select the option to use local account. Should auto create your account based on your current profile name

Saw some advice to disable HAGS and while improved it didn't solve the issue completely, so definitely something on windows side rather than my gpu dying

Stick with win 10, next week I going back to 10 on this work laptop. It'll take a few days to transfer everything over and get the setting correct.

No problems here neither, but I don't install GFE.

I don't mind 11, it runs well. I have 10 and 11 installed on my machine, and I use 11 most of the time. I considered wiping the 10 partition a few times.

Ok. But my response was to you because you told them that they should stick to windows 10 rather than upgrade to windows 11 and you didnt provide justification as to why you thought that.

I suspected pretty much right away that it's because of Windows Update interfering with the software and overwritten it without permission from the PC owner or administrator.

This, since at least Windows 10, also manifests as the "access denied Nvidia control panel bug". (where you want to save settings and an error box pops up about access being denied)
