Windows 11 24h2 has worse latency than Windows 10 22h2!

I agree with you about W8 and the Metro UI. That was all about $$$, misguiding marketing and MS marketing weenies trying to get everyone to buy into the Windows Phone. But that and the rest of your post there is just more opportunistic gripping about Microsoft and has absolutely nothing to do with the thread's topic. Sorry but moving on.

Ok so my theory is this. Microsoft Windows as a product is built on top of each other. Windows 10 on top of Windows 7, Windows 11 on top of 10.

I feel that they always go "forward" although I wouldn't call Windows 11 a step forward but as a personal opinion, just a dumbed down version of Windows 10.

Tell me for real now, besides the Auto-HDR and new UI which arguably is not that good, why would someone "downgrade" to Windows 11?

I mean yes, am biased towards Windows 10 but also gave Windows 11 numerous chances on my specific system and always found Windows 10 to be more snappy, in all aspects. Even the Window manager in Windows 10 is sensibly faster, I just reinstalled yesterday, went back from 11.

FFS, even when right clicking the desktop in order to show the Context menu is slower on Windows 11.

I don't know, I'm kinda sad I'm forced to downgrade to Windows 11 in Oct. 2025...

I personally like W11, felt good, served me well without mayor issues.

Funnily enough I had A LOT of problems with W10. But I think that was a hardware issue with the box I used at that time.

Also most things have shortcuts like:

Alt gr + enter for properties window or F2 to rename something

Yes the right click window is not optimal, wish it was better. Also for some settings I prefer the control-panel over normal windows settings.

Personally prefer the looks of W11, more playful than W10 or W7, which felt rather "stiff".

That’s both technically sort of correct and a hilariously stupid way of describing the concept. You do realize that 7, 10, 11, whatever - those designations are ultimately pointless and do not, in fact, reflect what Windows actually is, which is the kernel? Which, yes, indeed, is the “same” NT kernel which has served MS well since the 90s and last got a big restructuring/rebuilding with NT 6.0. Which was Vista, on the consumer side. Since then it evolved over time. I “think” I’ve seen some mention somewhere that 26100 might be the biggest revision since (yes, the dreaded 24H2), but don’t quote me on that.

Ultimately, I am not even sure what point you are trying to make. EVERY OS builds a new version on top of the old one. Nobody does things from scratch. At this point, you are just spitting bile for absolutely no reason. You posted your LatMon findings. People explained to you why they don’t show what you think and are not really useful. Now you just… decide to gripe about 11 in general? Okay, but that wasn’t the purpose of the thread.

To be honest the post deviated too much. For me, even though latency mon is not updated still indicates some differences on my system. Either latency mon is bugged or Windows 11 is bugged. That's it.

Either way, the trend is that (especially on reddit) if you remotely say anything negative of Windows 11, people start to become very defensive.

:( Sadly, what is clear is you are not really following what people are telling you. Contrary to what you have been told, and have chosen to believe, LatencyMon has been updated several times over the last few years, as recently as 18 months ago. It is important to note there have been no changes in audio protocols, no new audio protocols, no advancements in audio hardware technologies or no new industry standards for audio recording, processing or reproducing. Therefore, there has been no need to put out another update. Contrary to what some seem to want others to believe, not all programs need constant updates to stay current, or relative.

Either latency mon is bugged or Windows 11 is bugged. That's it.
Folks have tried repeatedly to explain to you that your test that you are basing your conclusion on is flawed. LatencyMon is NOT a benchmark program yet that is how you are treating it. And it seems clear you made up your mind before you even created your opening post here. :( Your test did not put W10 and W11 on a level playing field, despite the fact you seem to believe it did.

Either way, the trend is that (especially on reddit) if you remotely say anything negative of Windows 11, people start to become very defensive.
No doubt there are fanboys for every and anything. Where folks need to be careful when criticizing a program or company or this or that is to ensure their criticism is based on actual fact, and not biased opinions or personal preferences. Just because one does not like a program, or understand it, that does not mean it is a bad program.

There are plenty of things that Microsoft has done, or where Windows has problems that it is not necessary for folks to make or or exaggerate other things. Yet they do - all the time - repeatedly, forever! Even in this thread, people are still gripping about W8. Why? It came out over 12 years ago and was superseded 9 years ago (if you don't count W8.1).

And when it comes to extremely complex things, like operating systems, it is unrealistic to expect one program will excel in each and every category. But people do. :(

I personally don't like W11 because I don't like its UI. But I acknowledge it is an excellent OS, better than W10 in most ways with the latest hardware. And I will defend it when it is falsely accused. That said, because I don't like the UI, instead of just complaining about it, I did something about it. I use and recommend Explorer Patcher and Start11 to make W11 look and feel like W10. :)
