Hello guys, I have a 5450 through HDMI and when I turn on/off the monitor the windows align to the left. I haven't come across this issue in my life. Monitor ASUS VG245

Make sure the HDMI cable is securely fastened on both ends. In fact, swap cables to kill two birds with one stone.

If the problem is there after swapping cables, try a different monitor and see what happens. This will tell you if the problem is with the monitor, or your computer's graphics solution.

You might also try a cold boot of both the computer and monitor. A "cold" boot means to power off, then unplug from the wall for 15 seconds or so. This ensures the computer and monitor are NOT in standby and so everything is reset when you power back up.

If your computer's power supply or monitor have a master power switch on their back side, you can power off then flip that switch for 15 seconds instead of unplugging from the wall.

I mean when I turn the monitor off/on I get a sound from windows like a disconnect/connect and the browser or any windows is shifted to the left

At least DisplayPort does that when it detects is a monitor on or off. I guess your setup does detect that as well with HDMI.

That's more than likely just the thing I described above, when you turn off the second monitor, your PC thinks that it has only one monitor attached. And when you turn it on, it detects it as attached.

but I don't have a second monitor connected...

Ah, should've read better. My best guess is that when you turn off the monitor and it "disconnects", then after turning on and "reconnecting" it, it simply resets the alignment.

Never just seen before that with HDMI it detects it like that.

I mean it didn't do it with my 750 Ti. Going to see it it does on WiN7 quickly... Yep does the same thing

Maybe your monitor has just that feature to detect if it's on/off and it reports it to your system :)

I don't think my monitor is that smart ha

Hmm I see no setting that would do such a thing. Kinda weird but I'll live with it

When my monitor goes to sleep, fullscreen windows here do things like that - they can shrink, while still thinking they're maximised

I don't have my monitor to sleep. From what you said when my windows are maxed they stay that way

Losing sync.

Try different monitor

I can't. Don't have the money

Oh, I see what you mean! That's normal, no worries. I get that with all of the TV's we have plugged into PCs.

Yup, this is normal. TV's power cycling is not the same as dedicated PC displays power cycling. It's weird but it the way it works.

Youtube. You've got a YT channel, just upload it and post the links(in future).

I agree with you that this is an annoyance, but to be fair Windows 11 handles things like this better than 7 or 10 ever did.

My display is a monitor not a TV... But nevertheless I'm OK with the whole alignment problem

Now I'm on Linux Lite with no Issues.... So it would seem something within the ATi/AMD settings
