Windows force installs drivers from august on all of my AMD systems (since today midnight)

i reinstalled windows on another machine with a 5700XT and windows still just nukes everything, ignores registry entries about not installing drivers.

Have you used Group Policy editor to disable automatic driver installs as suggested?

Windows update has the same drivers in my update history however I also have the latest adrenaline drivers installed and the update function is working as is Anti-lag and tuning..

yes.
i can do whatever i want except of turning of windows update completely which prevents the driver download but with it everything else. you can pull out every old trick out of your sleeves.
the now discontinued wushowhide, registry edits, rolling back to the old driver. within the next day or two it just force installs this trash driver.

but it is a lot less relevant now since i installed linux on my main PC and laptop over the weekend. only a few other systems incl. family ones still do it even after a fresh install of windows.

On my Asrock X670E steel legend board it has an option in the bios under tools sub menu to disable automatic driver download.
I enabled this before installing win 11on it, & never had any of the problems the OP mentioned.

weird ...

well i'm safe

and it's an install of W10 where i touched nothing ... it's just as day 1, so, what make some get that issue and other not? clearly not M$ or WU otherwise everybody running it would have the said issue o_O
and not happening either on W11 on my Ally just checked.

i don't understand why is it so hard to get that this driver gets force installed over EVERYTHING.
you DDU wipe, reboot, install the latest WHQL driver... and it imediately overwrites it with this shitty broken driver.
people in the AMD forum have the same issue since today as well. you can't do anything about it it seems.

Maybe because it's the Anti Lag+ drivers are the issue, never had this issue ever with either AMD or nVidia. Were these not pulled and not recommend due to CS and maybe a few other games on how Anti Lag works ?.

I bet MS is auto changing them so people don't get banned. And could you not just tell windows not to download drivers for any thing.

Maybe

sysdm.cpl Device Installation Settings

@GerKNG I still have not had any issues, win 10 fully up to date and most recent WHQL manually installed.

that being said, you could always try the latest preview drivers:

M$ probably won't overwrite those, I am not sure. I still don't understand why you don't just game on your 4090 rig and sell everything else though.

windows is prob corrupt by now too, that happens when gpu drivers get fkd up too much. so run sfc /scannow in admin command prompt

Does. Not. Work.
True , I had the same issue a while ago.
Microsoft did change the mechanics of disabling driver updates again.
I also had GPE and registry changes to disable driver updates.

Only thing I can think of is the legacy PC System Properties -> hardware tab -> device installation settings -> automatic downloads of apps and custom icons from the manufacturer for your devices (yes (default) / no)

Device driver package gets treated as an app now ???
