Heyy.

When i launch an online server (Counter-Strike Source or Team Fortress 2) after a minute or two it sometimes loses connection, and i have to disconnect and reconnect to a different server, then it works fine for multiple hours. But it happens every time i launch either game.

When in-game and working properly i get decent ping and no lag spikes, my signal is shown as very good or excellent pretty much all the time and it's a BT Home Hub 8mb connection connected to my USB Netgear N WN121T adapter which is made for gaming.

I have had this problem before, but since then i've rebuilt the most part of my system and reseted the home hub to defaults.

Before I fixed the problem by going into some sort of settings where you can choose certain games and applications to be accepted by the gateway, or something like that. :/ It was a while ago and I really can't remember, but does anyone know what i'm talking about by that vague description? xD
Or of any other way to fix this problem. Any help appreciated.

Thanks, Daz ;D

Its strange i've reinstalled Vista 2x the past week, just to play CSS. But I keep getting a lost connection as well. Ping is low, signal is great as well.

Have you checked the Event log's to see if maybe its something else playing a role in this.

I've yet to solve the issue, but I get it randomly, could be less than a minute to maybe a few hours.

Update your USB Wireless Drivers?
Check if your router needs a firmware update?

It could be aswell a connection is trying to get through your router and its blocking it, causing you to disconnect. Have you tried to port forward?

See if you can roll back your drivers. I too get the same problem when i play UT3 and am downloading. The drivers just crap out and computer locks up. Rolled back the drivers and everything has been working since. I use WG111T btw

I think it is about PortForwarding, anyone got some descriptions on how to do it?

I'm not too keen to roll-back the drivers as I didn't have to do before when this happened, but thanks for the help :D

the WN121T isnt on the list :/

That is your Wireless device connected to your computer, not your Router... Take a look at your Wireless Router for that model

You mentioned you had a "BT Home Hub 8mb" ... Physically take a look on the router for the model

Ohh, it's a BT Home Hub, i remember a conversation on it being from another companies wireless router and just branded BT, just a moment

Ok i've found the BT Home Hub on the list, only problem now is the applications i plan on setting port forwarding up for (Team fortress 2 and counter-strike source) aren't on the list :/

27000 - 27050 - Client

27015 - Server

Select Both TCP & UDP

you will have to access into your router and add those port to your IP in your local network... You will have to read your User Manual or go to the manufactures website and they should have a manual you can read by downloading it.
