Just got my MSI RD480 Neo2-FI and Venice 2.0ghz this morning at the door.
However setting it up went as smooth as a set a stairs...
WHY OH WHY didnt i realise the only case i had availabe was a micro ATX....oh well guts all over the desk guts all in a box.
the only real problem i had was windows XP install cd has no support for the ULi chipset therefore no support for my Sata drive, so i had to make a drivers diskette and load up 3rd party drivers in windows install. Wish i knew it didnt support it BEFORE i completely dissasembled my old rig.
the 3dmarks are interesting also...
my old rig got 2024 score in 3dmark06
2.2ghz socket 754
x1600xt
1.5gb ddr400 3200 (3.3.3.8)
new rig
2.0ghz socket 939
x1600xt
1.5gb ddr400 3200 (3.3.3.8)
I got 2156! pretty good considering the new venice is 200mhz lower clock.
Now im going to look to overclock this bad boy, Do you guys recommend i use the bios settings to OC? this MSI board comes with a uitility in windows to change all the same settings as in the bios excluding ram timings. Currently with the Arctic ALPINE 64 fan i bought the CPU idles at a steady 32c with standard fan settings and goes to a nice low 38c under load, i think that should be able to keep her cool when i OC.
