Just got my MSI RD480 Neo2-FI and Venice 2.0ghz this morning at the door.
However setting it up went as smooth as a set a stairs...

WHY OH WHY didnt i realise the only case i had availabe was a micro ATX....oh well guts all over the desk guts all in a box.

the only real problem i had was windows XP install cd has no support for the ULi chipset therefore no support for my Sata drive, so i had to make a drivers diskette and load up 3rd party drivers in windows install. Wish i knew it didnt support it BEFORE i completely dissasembled my old rig.

the 3dmarks are interesting also...

my old rig got 2024 score in 3dmark06
2.2ghz socket 754
x1600xt
1.5gb ddr400 3200 (3.3.3.8)

new rig
2.0ghz socket 939
x1600xt
1.5gb ddr400 3200 (3.3.3.8)

I got 2156! pretty good considering the new venice is 200mhz lower clock.

Now im going to look to overclock this bad boy, Do you guys recommend i use the bios settings to OC? this MSI board comes with a uitility in windows to change all the same settings as in the bios excluding ram timings. Currently with the Arctic ALPINE 64 fan i bought the CPU idles at a steady 32c with standard fan settings and goes to a nice low 38c under load, i think that should be able to keep her cool when i OC.

i guess you triped almost at the top of the staris, for getting about the case size.. pics!!

If that is core center your talking about, uninstall it right away. It is terible and just screws stuff up trust me i have used over a dozen MSI boards, and fryed 3 procs using that prgram. Do all the overclocking in the bios and find some other kind of temp reader prgram, like mobo monitor. good luck, nice score

well i bought my old rig retail.....from e-machines... and every model of the motherboard i looked at in reviews showed it to be a standard ATX, i didnt even think of the possibility it also came micro. oh well link me to a "cool" PSU-less ATX case and ill order it up.

as for pics i dont have a digital camera, just my cell phone so pics would be very bad quality. but if you insist ill take 2-3.

and yeah its the corecell program. it looked a little phishy.

Tell me if this is a good sign or not....i have some of the cheapest ram possible. 1 1gb 3.3.3.8 t2 wintec, which i got for like $60 and a 512mb 3.3.3.8 which came witht he computer..... i just slammed the bios to overide them to 2.5 3.3.6 t1 2.7V and windows booted fine. cpu-z reports the ram is running at 200mhz 2.5 3 3 6 T1. 2.7v. im downloading sandra now to benchmark to see if it beats my old rigs 3.1gbps
