hi Guys

nice and easy like the title says would using the nvidia physx drivers be worth it on my rig in my profile or should i get an agea dedicated card its just they are getting more difficult to get hold of

thanks :)

yes in the long run,but for now only 1-2 games use physics. I for myself sold my old 8800gts 320mb wich i would have been using for physics, because tehres not so much physx games to play with. Ill wait and see where the tech develops.

but which one and i do have a few games that use physx

I wouldn't buy an ageia card..eventually nvidia will stop updating drivers for those...since their cards now also provide the psysix but like the others are saying...these new technologies are too young..no one knows what will became mainstrem..
Yes nvidia has a big influence on the gaming market but as of this day only a handfull of games support Physix and by the time it will be adopted (if it will) the current GPUs on the market will be history.

ok change it slightly would i notice a drop in performance

Why would you notice a drop?

thats y im askin because im fuzzy on the subject and just weighing up the pros and cons

The best way to tell is to try it, but from my understing you should gain something not loose.

thanks ill give i6t a go later and see what happens with cell factor as that was made for physx and i know how it runs without physx

will post back later and let u no

I would agree that not many games use it. Claiming numbers like 1-2 is of course based on completely nothing.

as i said i would i have been playin a few games with the nvidia physx and in unreal and graw 2 i have been very impressed and at no cost to my self so i think i will continue with this thanks for your help guys

I think like 20 something or so games using physX are slated before the end of the year. Not sure if any are big named ones though.

for me it isnt worth it there will probably come other physics engines or the developers make its own good ones physx is allready around for 1-2 years and i didnt manage alot

It is possible.

If your system is already GPU bound, increasing the GPU overhead by the use of GPU physx will usually cause a decrease in FPS. But, if your system is CPU bound, offloading some of that CPU physx overhead onto your GPU will usually case an increase in FPS.

The only way you can know for sure is by trying it.

I would think by looking at your specifications that your system is slightly CPU bound and that using GPU physx vs CPU physx could actually benefit you and cause an increase in FPS. But, you must realize that the game must be capable of using physx for either of the above arguments to even be possible; in other words, if the game does not support physx, enabling physx in the Nvidia physx control panel will have zero effect on the game.
