WOW. 55c drop with Duorb on 4850

I have been debating on the Accelero S1 rev 2 or even twin turbo or this. I think the Accelero rev 2 is going to be better for me as I can prob get away with just using an indirect fan that is close to it but blowing over my Harddrives.

Pretty sure you'd be fine doing this, the Accelero does a great job without a fan as long as case cooling is sufficient.

So what's the best >quiet< cooler for an HD 4870? I'm sick of the stock ones. Duorb looks like it would be loud.

My recommendations are : Skythe Musashi. (awaiting mine), Arctic Cooling Accelero twin turbo, Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev 2 with a good `120mm fan, Thermalright T-rad2 with 2 good 92mm fans, Akasa Vortex Neo.

Skythe Musashi ... Hmmm i do not trust this fan design , about quiet operation.

I have one of those fans next to me, from one old "good for nothing " single slot 5.25 CPU water cooling kit.

And i am unable to find any other use for it.
Its a high rpm fan.

Well, just finished installing the Musashi, and it's seriously quiet.
Considering all the other fans in my case are Noctua, there's only a very slight buzzing audable with the fans in max. It's much quieter than the old Zalman VF-900 and my idle temps on the card have dropped by about 10 degrees.
